Colfax Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 I bid this for friends. A Weds/Thurs night stay.I started bidding a week ago and all these have been getting rejected:$130/4*: CPS, ESB, MTE, MTW, TS/TD, UWS$120/3.5*: CPS, ESB, MTE, MTW, TS/TD, UWS$100/3*: CPS, ESB, Chelsea, MTE, MTW, TS/TD, UWSLast night I kicked my bids up a notch.$140/4* rejected in all six zones. $130/3.5* rejected in all six zones.$140/3.5* picked up by the Millenium. Millenium is $209 prepaid on hotel's website. With all taxes and fees it's $343.40 (Priceline) vs $486.66 (Millenium). Savings about 30%.Location might be a little off but friends are still pleased with the deal. Bids were placed through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
Colfax Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 I just checked the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and saw that someone else won my exact dates at the 3.5* Roosevelt in MTE for $125. But he bid in November 2009.So the best deals in NYC aren't ALWAYS at the last minute.

Colfax Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 I'll pass on about Ess-A-Bagel, thereuare. Thanks for the tip.I hardly know anything about NYC hotels and I considered starting a thread asking for help. But I figured you and other moderators have enough requests to respond to already that I wouldn't add to the pile, if possible. :) It helped that my friends were so flexible, and know NYC, and could tell me which zones were okay; and they were aware of the Millenium possibility in advance, and were okay with that. Which isn't to say they wouldn't have preferred something closer to the subway. Still they were happy to win this for $140, since that was the lowest avail now, and they were eager to secure something.
