Planned one week vacation to Palm Desert. Bid on 12/1/09 and was hoping to stay in Palm Desert. La Quinta is about 10 miles / 20 minutes from Palm Desert so decided not to extend. The La Quinta resort is a Waldorf-Astoria property and has nothing to do with the motel chain of same name. It was awesome. Total class. Old place beautifully maintained, great staff. Small adobe style "casitas" lining beautiful golf course with orange and grapefruits hanging on the trees everywhere and lush gardens all up against a mountain backdrop. the bar was extremely upscale chic. once we saw it, we wished we had chosen to extend our stay (as was offered) but we had already booked the marriott in palm desert since we had points we could use for the other 5 nights and wanted to be in the middle of palm desert. btw, there was a $25 (i think) resort fee and i don't think it was disclosed on the bid, but this was a terrific deal and didn't mind paying the fee. this place is a real gem and a steal for $100 a night.
