goldenrule Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 I'm a first time user of this Forum. Having read through the posts this seems very valuable. I'm looking at Hotwire for downtown LA hotel 5/12-5/16 and consistently see a 3* for $84: fitness center, restaurant, business center, laundry (!), wifi, and spa (!). 60% recommended, and a 3.5/5.0 on Trip Advisor. Can anyone tell me which hotel this is and if it's any good? Much appreciated.
thereuare Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The property above matches previous reports for the Miyako Hotel Los Angeles so that would be my best guess. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. goldenrule Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 Thank you! Having looked at the hotel reviews I don't think I will take that one. Will let the Forum know what I do and the deal I get.
Colfax Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 You might be able to win a 4* or 3.5* on PRICELINE for less than the $86 cost of this HOTWIRE 3*.If one bed is enough (Priceline only guarantees one bed) and you want to try for 4*/3.5* on PRICELINE someone can offer a strategy.
goldenrule Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 I appreciate all the help everyone has offered. I tried PRICELINE for a Downtown Hotel but didn't have any luck at $105 and $115 for a 4*. To be honest I didn't like the look of the likely 3* and 3.5* hotels Downtown. The problem is - I think - the dates. Those dates in May coincide with USC's graduation ceremonies and several others going on nearby... In the end I booked into the Sofitel West Hollywood on HOTWIRE for $149. A little more than I wanted to pay but at least I knew what I was getting. Thanks again - what a wonderful resource. Oh yes, I did hit the HOTWIRE website via this one.
thereuare Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Congratulations on your success! While a bit more than you originally set out to pay, glad to see you found something you're happy with and which you can make work well for your needs. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay. goldenrule Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 Yes, the amenities shown for the Sofitel were Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Internet & Business Center. Note: the hotel website indicates it has a spa but that was not shown on the HOTWIRE amenities list. Indication was 90% of HOTWIRE users recommended the hotel.
AaronJB Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Thank you for the follow-up. The HOTWIRE listings do not necessarily show all the amenities offered.
