I have been reading these forums from time to time but this is my first post. I would like to thank you guys for great work.

I am looking for a hotel in San Diego - Rancho Bernardo or within 10 miles of it.

Complimentary breakfast and High Speed Internet would be nice (I definitely need internet access paid or free). I also like to avoid paying for parking.

I have stayed before at Double Tree Golf Resort and if I could I would avoid this hotel.

Looking for 2.5* or higher in about $50/night or less, need to stay 3 nights extend-able to a week or so. Still have a week to try different bids and can adjust the start and end dates by a couple of days.

Probably I will start by bidding $41 on Priceline in Rancho Bernardo area with 3*. Is it a good start?

Thanks,

Champ

Welcome to BetterBidding!

It sounds that HOTWIRE is a better option for you. Using PRICELINE is no guarantee for anything that you mention. And you need to bid/book with firm dates since there's no way to tell if you can extend your stay with PRICELINE.

Let us know how we can help you further.

I have found 2 hotels on Hotwire in San Diego (North - Poway - Rancho Bernardo) for next weekend 04/02 to 04/04.

Normally you would see 4 hotels for this area but when I select 2 adults and 1 child I see only 2 options.

Hotel #1

3* $59 Recommended in 75% of customer reviews

Fitness Center

Pool

Restaurant

Laundry Facilities

Hotel #2

2.5* $64 We are still gathering reviews for this property.

Complimentary Breakfast

Pool

High Speed Internet Access

Can anyone please help ID these hotels.

Thanks,

Champ

Your 3* bid in Rancho Bernardo could be upgraded to the 3.5* Doubletree. There's no way to exclude one hotel on PRICELINE. Like yellowdog said, you'll probably do better on HOTWIRE, where you can select your hotel.
option for extending the stay at same price was given. Isn't it always the case if the rooms are available?
PRICELINE always displays the "Extend your stay" link on your confirmation page, whether your hotel has rooms available for an extension or not.
need to stay 3 nights extend-able to a week or so.
You can only extend up to the same number of nights as your winning bid. If you bid for 3 nights you can only extend for 1, 2, or 3 nights. Not 4 nights. (And again, subject to availability.)

When searching "2 adults/0 children" there are four Hotwire options in the zone. When searching "2 adults/1 child" two of the options disappear. That means two of the four hotels will guarantee a room with one bed for your dates, but not two beds.

For the 3* my best guess is the Holiday Inn Rancho Bernardo. Those icons are a little different than what's been reported but the TripAdvisor stats, 3.5/5, are a better match for the Holiday Inn than for Radisson Suites, which is 4/5. This could be some new unreported hotel too, but Holiday Inn is my best guess.

The 2.5* hasn't been ID'ed and no TripAdvisor info is given that would help. The La Quinta or Hampton Inn in Poway are possibilities, and there are others.

Please use this HOTWIRE link if you purchase, or let us know if you have other questions.

(note to moderators: the 3* Four Points Rancho Bernardo in the Hotwire Hotel List is now a Courtyard.)

Thanks Colfax.

I have a question how do you see TripAdvisor info on HOTWIRE?

Also I found one hotel in Mira Mesa which meet my needs

3* $56 Recommended in 95% of customer reviews

Complimentary Breakfast

Fitness

Pool

Business

High Speed Internet

Can anyone help me identify that? Is it Staybridge?

Thanks,

The 3* Mira Mesa property above does not match previous reports for the Staybridge Suites so that wouldn't be my first guess as to the hotel being offered.

My best guess for this property would be the Holiday Inn Express.

I have a question how do you see TripAdvisor info on HOTWIRE?

TripAdvisor info only appears for some hotels and it comes and goes.

When it's there it's on the Hotwire confirmation page you see after you clicking "Continue", under the hotel's price.
