smartcookie Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I'm working on booking a room in Savannah, GA for 3 nights during Memorial Day 5/28-5/31. The best deal I'm finding without bidding is $110/night at Four Points Sheraton, so trying to beat that and get something nicer maybe too.I'm only looking at the Historic District. I tried 3*+ with $45, 50, $55, and $60 bids. All rejected so far. I'm not too worried as we have time. There are 3 rebid zones for this bid. Going to try again in the next few days.Hopefully, this is helpful to someone. smartcookie Posted March 22, 2010 Author Report Posted March 22, 2010 I tried bidding today again and attempted $65, $70, $75, and $80 bids. Nothing was accepted. thereuare Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 If you can book a cancellable back-up reservation i would do that and not chase prices too much higher, as rates in this zone are usually lower than you have already bid. If you want to increase your bid to $85 i would do so at the 3.5* level, but wouldn't bid any higher than that this far ahead of your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and keep us updated. I can book the Four Points Sheraton for $100/night after coupon, but that's a non-refundable rate. I'll try to see if there is something decent in the $100 range that's refundable. smartcookie Posted March 24, 2010 Author Report Posted March 24, 2010 So I went ahead and tried bidding on 3*+ at $70, $75, and $80 today. None were accepted. Then, I changed the rating to 3.5*+ and bid $85, which was accepted! I got the Marriott Savannah Riverfront hotel, which is a 3.5* hotel. I'm happy with this result. The $100 price was no longer available for the other option I was looking at and the location of that hotel (Four Points Sheraton) wasn't as good.I used this site's links of course. Thanks for the help! thereuare Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see it only took an extra $5 over your previously failed bids and when doing so you were also able to increase the quality of the hotel. Nice to see this will work well for your needs and that it is better (not to mention cheaper :) ) then the alternative you were considering.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. smartcookie Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 Just wanted to add that I called the hotel and was able to confirm a room with 2 beds. I made other requests as well such as a remodeled and quiet room, which are not guaranteed, but they were able to guarantee us 2 double beds. If you win this hotel, this is a perk :) Oh, and their regular rate for these dates is $170.
