Marga Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 We started with lowball bids earlier this week with no luck. Last night went all the way up to $150 using all the rebid zones. I'm getting concerned that it's so close and got no hotel yet. Wasn't planing to go to 150, but it seems we may be forced to go higher. I think we'll try prolly up to $160 or so, and very reluctantly go down to 3 1/2* :)We already got plane tickets, train tickets, Boston hotel. So I'm panicking at this point ahhhhhhhhhhh
dahammer Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Take a deep breath and exhale..........what is maximum bid for this stay? What zones are you considering? Have you checked out the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins for your dates of travel? You can see what others have bid for similar dates. Please use the PRICELINE links on the board to conduct your searches and your bids.thanks!
Marga Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 I'm not sure about how high hubby will bid, I think max will be about $160-165. I started looking MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, then addded every available 4 star and up zone available. I was avoiding SOHO but added it in the end. I looked at everything, I check the wins a few times a day, i've checked other websites too. I still have tonight to bid, and Friday night. Just worried that we'll either have to end up overpaying for a 4* or getting a crappy hotel because the better ones will be booked.Thank you for reply :)
AaronJB Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 This isn't a 4*, but it gets quite good reviews and is in a solid location (and offers free breakfast, too.)When I search for 2 people for 3/20-25, I see a 3.5* in the Times Square-Theatre District area on HOTWIRE w/Boutique, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Business, Spa for $159.This would be a match for the amenity set previously reported w/ the Roommate Grace. (and there is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating on the detail page - while that wouldn't confirm the roommate grace, it is a match for that hotel's rating.)If the Roommate Grace, while it is a 3.5, it is at least a unique boutique property, would offer a great location and breakfast. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Marga Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 Thank you for the suggestion Aaron. We just tried bidding again 4* all the areas up to $165. Nothing yet. May go for 3.5 then. Will post either way.
biddingyyz Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Thank you for the suggestion Aaron. We just tried bidding again 4* all the areas up to $165. Nothing yet. May go for 3.5 then. Will post either way.Having similar trouble for 4/24-4/26 - no luck for a 4* at $155 for anything between CPS and ESB. Note that W on Lex has a $199 deal on a couple of websites - that may end up being the best offer, with no risk of hotel lotto...
Marga Posted March 19, 2010 Author Report Posted March 19, 2010 I bid up to $148 this a.m. for 3 1/2* nothing. I didn't use up all the rebids, still had 3 more. Will try again tonite the 4* i'm not willing to go higher than $165. I expect to spend plenty of money on this trip, besides the aforementioned plane, train, and Boson hotel. MAybe will habe to bid $165 for 3 1/2* too.
Marga Posted March 20, 2010 Author Report Posted March 20, 2010 I went up to 180 tonight but nothing so I gave up :)
