mwahahahanni Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I need your recommendations! Will be traveling to San Diego for day trip, arriving on the evening of June 9, 2010 (driving in from Newport/Laguna area). I need three rooms (area TBD) and would like to stay in the $35-$55 range with $75 max each (before tax). We love Hyatt Place and would like a similar hotel experience (modern, clean, comfy, free parking). We love staying at the beach and welcome most especially your suggestions for these areas.Thank you for your advice!
thereuare Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Please follow-up your previous Hotwire Orlando thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at the above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mwahahahanni Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Followed up, thank you. Will use better bidding PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for future travel.
thereuare Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 How important is the type of hotel and being on/near the beach vs. price? With PRICELINE you won't be able to take a guess as to the hotel you may receive nor will you know any of the amenities offered before your purchase. With HOTWIRE you'll be shown the amenities so you'll know what is offered, and with this information you'll also be able to research and take a guess as to what hotel it may be that is being offered. The trade-off is that PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.PS- can you please follow-up your Priceline Orlando thread with the name of the hotel and the priceline zone it is located in. THANKS! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mwahahahanni Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Type of hotel is very important, more-so than getting a dirt-cheap rate--hotel doesn't have to be the ritz, but I would like it to be comparable to a Hyatt Place experience. Also, my traveling companions would very much like to be close to the beach. We can be flexible with the stated budget, increasing our max bid if necessary.Edit: Also, as we have two vehicles, we would like to be at a hotel with free parking.
Colfax Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 I like Hyatt Place too but there are no Hyatt Place hotels in San Diego county. We love staying at the beach and welcome most especially your suggestions for these areas.I'm not sure how familiar you are with San Diego but I don't think your hotel expectations are realistic. The nicer hotels near the beach usually charge for parking, around $10-35/night per car, depending on hotel. If you want a hotel with free parking near the beach you're probably looking at a more motel style property, not something like Hyatt Place. Are you willing to stay in North County, somewhere like Solana Beach or Oceanside? There's more free parking up there. If you're thinking Downtown or Coastal or SeaWorld zones you should plan on paying to park, and consider yourself lucky if you win a Priceline hotel where parking is free.
tanyaewa Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 See my priceline hotel win thread. 3* Holiday Inn Oceanside Marina Apr 21-23 Bid $69 North County Coastal. Free parking :)
