John and Tami Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Just wanted to update on some bids I've made to hopefully help other bidders.I used the PRICELINE link from this forum.I bid $70/nt on 5* strip north and got a no. Rebid adding an areas with no 5* hotels (near east strip) at $75/nt. That time I got a counter offer at $125. I did not buy it, so I do not know which hotel they offered. (Vdara is on sale on Expedia right now for $119/nt, though.) Anyway, I was hoping to then go back and add 4* to my search because I'd be fine with Treasure Island at $75/nt but it did not let me adjust anything else that time. Also, for the heck of it yesterday I tried 4* north strip at $43/nt and got a no. I tried $60 south strip 5* for the heck of it and also got a no.My notes are getting so long I thought I'd go ahead and share it since they countered.
AaronJB Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 If you want to take the Vdara deal via Expedia, 10WINTER is a coupon that may take $10 off.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, Expedia or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

John and Tami Posted March 13, 2010 Author Report Posted March 13, 2010 Back at bidding after my update post. This time I won a room.I used the link to PRICELINE from this forum.I started at 4* north strip at $70. I got the "you can't bid more than once message" but this time it added the "make some changes and try again" feature instead of "try in 24 hours" or "here are other hotels at retail proce". So I added south strip, stayed at 4*, and increased price to 74. I got the Luxor. Not exactly what I was hoping for - only because I wanted to be a little closer to UNLVino activities in the Flamingo at Strip area, BUT will have a great time!!!Thanks to everyone for keeping this site relevant and informative!!!Am I supposed to follow up after trip? I can't remember...
AaronJB Posted March 13, 2010 Report Posted March 13, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)Sorry to hear that the result wasn't exactly what you were hoping for, but glad you're still satisfied with the result and are looking forward to your stay.Reviews are greatly appreciated and can be posted in the reviews section of the board.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay
John and Tami Posted March 13, 2010 Author Report Posted March 13, 2010 To clarify:We are totally happy with the price and hotel and location. Being next to the UNLVino stuff would have been an added treat, but I knew what I was doing with the bidding and adding the strip south. (I could have added the Nellis area (I think) because they only have 2.5* there but I wanted to just get the room done. I'm happy!!
