XT600 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 we expected the Marriott or Renaissance (also becaue of the 3 rooms request) but got the NH Altona, which is e.g on Hotels.com a 3* hotel :) Total cost in EUR with PL NYOP per night is 65 EUR - Official rate with similar conditions: in avarage for similar days is 115 EUR. There is a hotel business fair/convention in town that weekend, official lowest rate at this hotel is 83 EUR, so priceline rate is 25% below this rate.... no risk no funMy theory is with stronger USD-Rate even lower bids should be sucessfull (as the hotel will get paid in EUR, less USD is more EUR)Positiv with this win is: easy access from Highway A7, free parking and free Sauna.
rapazfreiburg Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 According to most reservation sites, this is a 4 star. However, its location and the hotel itself, for most people, isn't as desirable as the Renaissance or Marriott. That's NYOP. What you are saying about the exchange rates isn't a mere theory, it's a fact. :-) Hotels in Germany calculate in € (usually including the 7% VAT). Your bid amount in $ is converted into €.Your bid amount of $65 comes up to $69.55 including VAT. I suppose, the lowest acceptable bid in this case was there €50 including VAT. You will have paid around €55 per night including all taxes. Still a savings of €30.
