colinchrisc Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 So we are staying in Los Angeles for 4 nights from July 29 - August 2.We intend on staying somewhere in Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverley Hills, or Downtown LA. We will also have a car that'll need to be parked.I was wondering if it's realistic to look for a 3* or better hotel for about 70 including taxes? If not realistic, what's the cheapest nightly rate I could get in one of these areas?
Colfax Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I was wondering if it's realistic to look for a 3* or better hotel for about 70 including taxes?Welcome to BetterBidding, colinchrisc. For consistency's sake we discusss bids in pre-tax terms here. $70 including taxes and fee means a bid amount of around $55-60, which is sort of a lowball figure for a 3* or higher hotel in LA. Parking costs are extra. You're most likely to win a 3* for $60 or less in Downtown or Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zones. If you want a strategy let us know if you prefer one of those zones above the other or if you want the least expensive hotel available in either zone. Also let us know the highest you're willing to bid pre-tax. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases.
colinchrisc Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 I would much rather stay in the Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone. I'm willing to bid $75 for a 3* hotel (Unless this is unreasonable). Basically, I don't want anything fancy since we're only using the hotel to sleep, I'm just more concerned about the area.
Colfax Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 A 3* in Beverly Hills-West Hollywood for $70 or less sounds realistic. You might still be bidding too early for July but you'll find out when you try. When bidding for a 3* in LA you have one free rebid zone, Lawndale. Lawndale zone only goes to 2* so you can add it to your 3* bids in other zones without risk of winning a hotel in Lawndale. Priceline never gives you a lower rated hotel than you bid for.My suggestion is bid $50 for a 3* in Beverly Hills-West Hollywood. If rejected add Lawndale and try $55.If rejected wait 24 hours and bid $60 for 3*. Add Lawndale at $65.Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link and let us know how your bidding goes.Good luck!
colinchrisc Posted March 11, 2010 Author Report Posted March 11, 2010 Hello,I am staying in Los Angeles in mid July and need help bidding for a 3* hotel for the Beverly Hills or Hollywood Areas.Recently I've been bidding $80 for a 3* hotel in these areas and have always been rejected. Is this a fare bid? Is it possible that the hotels are not listed on Priceline yet for July and maybe I'm bidding too early?
AaronJB Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding.Prices do vary by date; if something is going on on these dates, prices may be higher than normal. Please provide the date/s of travel (as well as desired budget) and we will be happy to have a look to see what's available for these dates.
