AaronJB Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)The above would likely be Planet Hollywood. Resort charges should be listed on the hotel website. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jett456 Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Well, I guess this will be the last time I try to save money by using PRICELINE. I was trying to get a 4 star N Strip. I kept getting rejected and had two windows open and to make a long story short I had the wrong rebid zone checked in my second window and ended up with the Golden Nugget!!! I tried calling and they wouldn't budget. The CS said he would give me a discount on my next purchase but basically its too bad, can't cancel. I guess I will eat this because I cannot stay that far away from the strip. The cab fares alone will equal paying retail for a 4 star. I might consider disputing the charge on the credit card but it really is my mistake for not being more careful. :)

Jett456 Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Sorry to hear of your error. Can you pleas add a reply to this thread with the amount of your 'winning' bid as well as the date(s) of your stay so that we can add this information to the topic title and enable this purchase to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.My dates are 4/21-/422. Golden Nugget. 50.00 (not good price)I was trying to get the north strip for under 50.00. I should have just done Hotwire and gotten the MGM. But I was being thrifty and decided to try Priceline. I was using the rebid zones and had more than one window open. I accidentally clicked Fremont area and thought it was a rebid zone. I had upped my bid to 50.00 and wouldn't you know - it got accepted. Of course it would, I could have booked that rate online for even less. The Golden Nugget is the only 4 star in the area. I tried calling twice to see if they would let me cancel. They gave a link to save 10.00 on my next purchase. I am staying for a third night (Friday) at the Hard Rock. I got that night for less that 100. because I booked it with Expedia as a package with the air. All in all I am feeling better about the Golden Nugget after I read the reviews and checked out the area and bus system. I will probably use Priceline again but will be much more careful. Thanks for your help. Also, please follow-up your previous Las Vegas One thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay.I did not go for those dates.
dahammer Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Well, I guess this will be the last time I try to save money by using PRICELINE. I was trying to get a 4 star N Strip. I kept getting rejected and had two windows open and to make a long story short I had the wrong rebid zone checked in my second window. This happens to the best bidders, but if you discontinue using PRICELINE, you will end up paying rack rates. Using PRICELINE, I typically save 50% or more and I can stay in higher rated properties than my budget affords. I would immediately call PRICELINE and ask if you can rebid for the same dates of travel in an adjacent zone in exchange for a one time $25 fee cancellation fee. Once I checked off the wrong zone and had a bid accepted and on another occasion, I used the wrong dates. PRICELINE agreed to refund the amount of my wrong bid less a $25 fee when I made a successful bid in the zone I really wanted. Good luck, let us know what happens and when you begin your next round of bidding, think like a carpenter.....measure twice, cut once. :) If PRICELINE still won't budge, you may want to consider see if there are any shuttles between downtown casino properties and the strip or share a cab.
Jett456 Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 I did call twice (immediately) and asked if they would let me apply the charge against a new bid in the zone that I wanted. No dice. They did however send me a link for 30.00 off my next purchase. It really was my own fault but I feel better about it today. I did lots of reading up on the hotel and the Fremont area. This might turn out better than I expected. I probably never would have ventured there and it sounds like a really fun experience. The bus system is very easy to use and that is the way I will probably go. Cabs are too expensive. The bus runs all the way up to Freemont and down to the end of the strip. There are a few free shuttles available that I might check out as well. As a rule the hotels don't have them.
thereuare Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Also, please follow-up your previous Las Vegas One thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay.I did not go for those dates. Please indicate so in your Las Vegas thread so that thread has a 'conclusion' and future readers are not left wondering if you won but didn't report, made alternate plans, canceled the trip, The LIMITED STOP bus is the quickest way... just 4 stops between downtown and the first stop on the main part of the strip. Most other shuttles stop at multiple hotels along the way and it can take a long time, stick with the bus (ideally the LIMITED STOP one)Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
