mdrl Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Hi,I am planning to stay in SF for 4 nights. We are 3 person (not US resident). We would like to stay in a 4 stars, and I heard/read USW Nob-Hill is a good place to stay.We r planning to stay the 3 in the same room. I would like to know if there is any charge for asking for 2 separate beds ?As we have a minimum budget, with about $70, I think be able to have Parc55, Nikko or Hilton hotel. Are these hotels adding a charge for asking a 2 beds (there is a problem to be 3 in the same room) ? And how much ?Thanks
Colfax Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding, mdrl.PRICELINE reservations are for double occupancy only, which could mean a room with one bed. Bidders often report getting 2 beds for no extra fee at Hilton and Parc 55 but 2 beds aren't guaranteed and you won't know until you check in whether you'll get 2 beds or not.Nikko seems to be very firm about giving PRICELINE guests a room with one bed and charging for the second bed. I believe it's $25 or $30 per day. When using Priceline there's no way to insure you'll get Hilton or Parc 55, rather than Nikko. And there are several other hotels in USW besides those three, some of which will also charge for a second bed.HOTWIRE might be the better choice for you, since you can enter "3 adults" and be assured adequate bedding for three. When you search your dates on HOTWIRE (and what are your dates?) do you see any listings within your budget? If you'll post the icons here someone can try and ID the hotel(s).Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases.
mdrl Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks,I know that the PRICELINE price are for 1 bed couple. I am not sure we can have good deals in HOTWIRE too.I want to stay in SF from May, 8th to 12th, so 4 nights for a maximum of $72 (whithout tax). Thanks for your help
thereuare Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 So you're willing to take the risk of booking for double occupancy? If so, is the USW the only zone you're willing to accept?Let us know and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
mdrl Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Yes it would be nice to have strategy.I'm willing to accept Fisherman's Wharf, SOMA - Moscone Center, Union Square West - Nob Hill, Union Square East. For 4nights from the 8 of May to the 12th.Max $72(whithout tax)
Colfax Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Your best chance of getting two beds for free is in Fisherman's Wharf zone, but FW only goes to 3.5* and you said you want a 4*.Do you want to try bidding to $72 for a 3.5* in FW first, and then if that doesn't work try the other zones?
mdrl Posted February 25, 2010 Author Report Posted February 25, 2010 I am fine with Fisherman's Wharf and with 3.5*.You mean that in this zone the 2 beds are with no charge ? Why ? because there are 3.5*?If I go to Fisherman's Wharf zone, I can try with $64 (Marriott example) ?Thanks
Colfax Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 PRICELINE usually costs less than HOTWIRE but two beds aren't guaranteed on Priceline in any zone. If you need two beds I recommend HOTWIRE. But if you want to save money and gamble on getting a two bed room on PRICELINE your chances will be better in Fisherman's Wharf than USE or USW because FW is a popular area with families and the FW hotels have more two bed rooms.Still you're taking a gamble, even in FW. Two beds aren't guaranteed, period. You have four free rebid zones for 3.5* in Fisherman's Wharf. If you need help ID'ing your rebid zones please ask.I suggest bidding $57 for a 3.5* in Fisherman's Wharf. Then raise $2 per free rebid up to $65.Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link. Good luck!
