skyymanz Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Hi,I am new to this forum and biding for priceline hotel. Will be in san francisco from 22nd May to 25th May 2010. Wish to get a good deal by biding for a hotel through priceline.Wish to get either Holiday Inn San Francisco-Fisherman's Wharf or Best Western Tuscan Inn Fisherman's Wharf which is 3 star hotel. I got the list of hotels from this forum () It shows that there is only two 3 star hotel in that region. Is this list accurate? Can someone advise me on the biding strategy? Would i be able to get it for a bid of $65? Does the bid include Tax and service charge for per room per night? Thanks!
yellowdog Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Yes, boards list is updated with the latest reports we have. But please note. Hotels are added/removed by PRICELINE all the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject tom change. You need to be willing to stay at any 3* or higher in the zone you're bidding at.Does the bid include Tax and service charge for per room per night? No, tax/fee will be added. So is your max for $65 ex tax/fee?Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
skyymanz Posted February 17, 2010 Author Report Posted February 17, 2010 Hi yellowdog,Thanks for the reply. I have seen people getting $60 per night for 3 star hotel in Fisherman Wharf. My max is $65 per night without tax and service charge. Can i bid $60 for 3 star hotel in Fisherman wharf. If not successful then i add Lombard then bid again?Any better ways to do it?Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Yes, Lombard is currently your one re-bid zones when bidding 3* in San Francisco so you can add that to your 3* bidding if your first bid is rejected. HOWEVER, always doublecheck your re-bid zones just before bidding (as examplained in Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) to make sure nothing has changed since your last checked, for as noted above, new hotels are added/removed and upgraded/downgraded all the time. With time on your side i would even start a little lower:Select 3* Fishermans Wharf...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zoneBid $60If the above if rejected wait 24 hours and re-try:Select 3* Fishermans Wharf...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zoneBid $65Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. skyymanz Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 Tried $55 for 3* at Fisherman's Wharf - rejectedAdd Lombard, bid $60 accepted.Thanks.This is the first time i win a bid for a hotel! thanks all.The hotel is confirmed rite? What should i provide when i check-in?Thanks.
AaronJB Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)This is a confirmed reservation. You check-in as you would normally. I would bring a print-out of your confirmation, but that may not be needed.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
Colfax Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 Nice job, skyymannz. What should i provide when i check-in?Also bring your photo ID and a credit card for incidentals. This is explained on your Priceline acceptance page.(A mod will merge this with your other SF thread.)
thereuare Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I also recommend bringing a copy of the winning bid acceptance page/email so that if any problems do arise with the hotel not beging able to find your reservation, it's always easier to take care of with the information on the confirmation page easily accessible (don't get nervous now that your reservation will be lost, it's just a precautionary measure, as mistakes do happen from time to time regardless of how the room was booked)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
