mthw Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 My bid for a 4-star hotel in SOMA was just accepted at the Palace Hotel for $90 for 02/20-02/21.However, I know that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy rooms. I read here on the forum that one must call the hotel to see if the hotel has available rooms to upgrade to to accommodate more people.I called The Palace Hotel requesting a room upgrade, however, I was informed that they will not have my priceline reservation information until I check-in. This means they will not be able to upgrade my room until check-in.Does this seem accurate? The person I spoke to said I needed my hotel confirmation number, and that since I booked through priceline, I do not have one.Any help would be much appreciated!!!
Colfax Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding, mthw.Priceline reservations are only guaranteed for double occupancy, which can be a room with one bed. Two beds are at the hotel's discretion and they can charge an upgrade fee. Many hotels in downtown SF charge Priceline customers for a second bed. I don't know about the Palace. You won't know until you check in whether you'll get two beds or not. Even if you call ahead and the hotel notes your request for two beds that's not the same thing as a guarantee. Two beds just aren't guaranteed, whether you call in advance and request them or not.If you need two beds HOTWIRE is the better choice. It often costs more than Priceline but you can reserve two beds on Hotwire.
Colfax Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 On your acceptance page there are two different reservation numbers. One is called "Hotel Request Number". You use that one when talking to Priceline about your reservation. The other is called "Hotel Confirmation Number", and that's the one you use when speaking to the hotel. You might call the Palace back, give that number, and try your request again.
