Priceline Hotel: Lewiston, ID bidding help

Needing to stay in Lewiston, ID, hopefully Red Lion because that's where the event is. Unfortunately, I didn't get that info until tonight

All web sites (Kayak, Travelocity, Expedia, etc.) showing $159 for this 3* property.

Tried tonight just as a test:

Lewiston 3* @ $45 - rejected

Add rebid:

Moscow 2.5* @ $47 - rejected

Added final rebid

Pullman 2.5 @ 55 - rejected

Max would be at least half of the web rates. Tonight was just a test.

Any suggestions for a successful bid would be appreciated.

With your two re-bid zones i would try as follows:

Select 3* Lewiston...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Lewiston and re-bid zone2...

Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $75

Should I go higher or lower my star options? Problem is that I need to be in Lewiston.

At what point do you raise your bid or choose to book direct?

In many smaller markets you often can't get as good of a deal as we often see in large cities since there is little competition, and therefore hotels don't need to discount as deeply. Is 50% off your threshold to make an opaque purchase worthwhile?

Yeah, I hear what you're saying and was pondering the same question myself.

I just noticed in PRICELINE that Lewiston is a zone if I choose Moscow, ID. Perhaps I can try it from that angle?

Moscow 2.5*

Pullman 2.5*

Colfax 2*

Lewiston 3*

Moscow is the alternate option.

That's going to check the same inventory, but by entering Moscow, ID into the city search box will give you some extra re-bid zones.

Are you considering raising your maximum bid or intending to keep it at $75?
