thereuare
I'm guessing your 3.5* bidding will be a bit low for these dates, but with time on your side, you can certainly try lowballing a bit.You could also get an additional bidding opportunity as follows:Select 3.5*...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* and re-bid zone2...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Colfax
I want to stay in Santa Monica.Keep in mind the Priceline zone includes Marina Del Rey and you could win a 3.5* hotel that's not in Santa Monica. Link to comment
dechass
Keep in mind the Priceline zone includes Marina Del Rey and you could win a 3.5* hotel that's not in Santa Monica.yeah, i had considered that, it seems SM to MDR is about 10 - 20 mins drive away depending on traffic.we will have a rental car.I would prefer SM, as i'm driving for a few days before, during and after these 3 days, and i'm sure i'd appreciate the break. But if i'm to use PL, then it's a chance i'll have to take, because MDR hotels are in all the star rating categorys. If I do get a hotel in MDR, then i think it wont be too bad, as it's a short drive to SM.Does all that sound correct? Thanks. thereuare
I'll leave it for somebody else more local than i am to comment on driving distances and the 'feel' of the Sanata Monica area, but will add that if you really want the marina del rey area, HOTWIRE may be a better option if you're able to take an educated guess as to the property you're likely to receive before your purchase based upon the amenities shown. It may cost you a little more than PRICELINE, but you'll likely stand a better chance of getting a hotel in the area you want, so you have to consider if the additional cost would be worth it to you. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dechass
ok, i did the hotwire check wrong!there are properties on there, i'll get back to you.Thanks.ok, so there are 3 properties on hotwire in the 'Santa Monica - Venice - Marina Del Rey Hotel' area. 4 starnear beach, smoke free rooms, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet access - $175 which is probably sheraton delfina.2 starcomplimentary breakfast, pool - $73 = Ramada Limited Marina del Rey.3 starocean front, complimentary breakfast, business center, high speed internet access, golf nearby, tennis nearby.what could this one be? it doesnt match anything on the hotwire list...Thanks again. Colfax
I can't ID the 3* but there's some chance it's in Marina del Rey or Venice, not Santa Monica. Also a HOTWIRE 3* is often a Priceline 2.5*. At $129 I'd call the Hotwire 3* a risky purchase, especially with no TripAdvisor ratings given. If you bid 3.5* on PRICELINE you'll probably get Sheraton Delfina or Marriott Marina del Rey. Mapquest says they're 3.7 miles apart. If you decide to go that route I'll second the strategy that thereuare offered above, bidding from $70 to $85. Link to comment
dechass
thereuare, the 4 star hotel on hotwire suits, but not at that price, just yet. :) If you bid 3.5* on PRICELINE you'll probably get Sheraton Delfina or Marriott Marina del Rey. Mapquest says they're 3.7 miles apart.i'd prefer to go this way first.I'd prefer the Sheraton due to its location, but the marriott marina is well reveiwed and the location would not be too bad.So, i should go with the bidding strategy offered by thereuare?Select 3.5*...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* and re-bid zone2...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $85Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, you can try the above, as well as your 4* strategy if you wanted to try that first. (but keep in mind that you may receive a hotel other than the two 3.5* properties which have already been reported to the board)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax
The Marriot MDR is only $169 for your dates. I wouldn't bid higher than $100 this far in advance. You could be bidding too early for June.Unless you need to secure something now I'd book a cancellable backup and keep trying PRICELINE once a week or so.Good luck! dechass
fair enough, i'll leave it for a while.I have the embassy hotel apartments booked for $175 a night as a cancellable backup. Thanks Link to comment

thereuare
I wouldn't bid more often than once every 7-10 days at this point as you're likely to just get frustrated and/or discouraged.Hang in there :)Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding. Andy123
Please bear with me as I am new and try to learn.I don't quite get this and have a couple questions:Select 3.5*...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $111, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* and re-bid zone2...Bid $114, if rejected add re-bid zone1...So, do u start with the PRICELINE link from this site ?And what is the advantage or why you need to close the browser and "use our link to re-access PRICELINE" ? Giving you another chance of bidding without waiting for 24 hours ?Why do you re-bid zone2 before re-bid zone1 at this point ?I am also interested in Santa Monica and really want to understand this. Thanks for your help.Andy Link to comment
yellowdog
Andy123The board would be happy to help you. But please start a new topic for your own stay as this thread will be used to reflect whatever member dechass ultimately does for his/her stay.Yellowdog. Link to comment
