Double_Downon11 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Booked a colleague 4 nights at the Crown Plaza for a conference using the PRICELINE link. FYI, I started bidding on the 4* (likely Hyatt) but gave up at $70 so started my 3.5* bidding on both Anaheim - Disneyland areas at $45 and won it at $62 per night.I am hoping to book the same hotel for one less night (May 24th - May 27th) for myself but haven't had any success yet. I started bidding at $55 for the Anaheim OGG area but gave up at $72. It doesn't make sense to book three nights at a price of only $30 less then it was to book my colleague 4 nights.Any suggestions? Just be patient?
yellowdog Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) We hope your colleague will enjoy the stay.Yellowdog.About your May stay. Like you say. Just be patient and monitor the price on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE and bid within your range. If you you fail closer to your stay so just post back. It's still early.
Double_Downon11 Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Been bidding up to $65 each day with no luck but I will stay patient as it looks like this hotel has been going for alot cheaper during other dates.
808geek Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Did you check to see if any conventions or special events are going on during that time? Maybe that's part of why their making it difficult for you to get a take on it. It also could be that just like the airlines they only sell so many seats or rooms in this case for a discounted price and when their gone you have to wait again until they put more out their for a discounted price. And again it is still early and the hotel knows that too, so they don't neccessarily need to discount too many rooms this far out. Just my thoughts.
Double_Downon11 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 There is one at the Anaheim Convention Center that I am actually attending that week so I am definitely keeping that in mind but it's hard to justify a price close to their website rate at this point. I keep trying from $40 to $63 each day with no success so I will try to be patient. I appreciate the input and will respond with my progress.
808geek Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Absolutely agree with that one, why pay close to full price when using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. I mean isn't the whole point of using the bid your own price to be able to get a deep discounted rate? I know when I used Priceline for the first time last year and got a room rate @ half off, it's hard to go back to paying full price. Or even paying more than $50 or so on a 3.5* in the Disneyland area cuz I've gotten it at that rate or less 5 times last year and twice during holiday weekends. Chin up, you'll get the discounted rate. Their just trying to be difficult at the moment for you.
Double_Downon11 Posted January 29, 2010 Author Report Posted January 29, 2010 Great thanks again for the feedback. If you don't mind I'd like to pick your brain a little bit for our trip in May. My wife and I will be staying in L.A. with a cousin the Friday till Monday then driving into Anaheim on Monday afternoon. From what I've been told it will likely be about 90 minutes from Beverly Hills area to Disneyland area. Does that make sense? The other question is my wife will be accompanying me to the hotel even though I will be "working from Monday night till Thursday. Are there malls/shops close by that can keep her occupied for a few days? Any restaurant suggestions for the area? Any other tips would be appreciated as it's our first trip out to L.A.Thanks again for the info.
