travlgrl Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Searching for 2 adults and 2 kids, for 04/06-04/09. I got a 3* for $109 with icons: smoke free, breakfast, fitness center, business center, laundry and high-speed internet. Can you help me id please?I also got a 2.5* for the same area, with icons: breakfast, pool and internet; according to the list, would this be the Best Western Royal Palace?Actually I'm looking for something more under the $80 range, but can't seem to find anything near Hollywood, Beverly Hills or Century City, except for 2 stars. Could I expect something better if I wait more? I've thought about Priceline, but the 2 bed issue would be a problem. Thanks!
Colfax Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 My best guess for the 3* is one of the two Holiday Inn Expresses in the zone. Neither HIE has been reported with a Smokefree icon in the past but they're both smokefree hotels now.For the 2.5* I'll go with Best Western Royal Palace. It's been reported with those icons in the past. The 2.5* is $106 when searching 2 adults, but drops to $89 when searching 2 adults/2 children. Icons unchanged. That's very odd as the price usually goes up, if anything, when you add occupants. But on their website the Best Western charges more for one bed than for two so that increases my confidence in the ID. (It seems BW's one bed rooms also have a jacuzzi and the two bed rooms don't, which accounts for the price differential.)I can't say if prices will go up or down between now and April but the Best Western at $89 seems pretty close to your $80 budget, if it otherwise suits you. The Best Western has free parking and I'm not sure about the HIE's.If you're a gambler you could try bidding for a 3* in Priceline's Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone. You might get something $50-60ish but the two beds won't be guaranteed and you'll pay to park. Please use the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links if you purchase.
travlgrl Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 I just want to follow up this thread. The Holiday Inn Express charged a lot for parking and the Best Western was in an area farther than where we wanted to be at. I got a rate at the Ramada Inn Near Hollywood Studios of $69 plus $15 parking and I found the Days Inn Hollywood for $58 advanced purchase. I haven't decided yet which way we're going to go now, but I still have time to keep searching. I'll come back if I need some help, but due to our budget, Hotwire may not be the best way to go now for us.Thanks.
AaronJB Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Thank you for letting us know what you decided, and please do use the hotel links (for HOTWIRE, PRICELINE and hotel chains, as well as other travel sites) in the support section. Thanks.
travlgrl Posted February 13, 2010 Author Report Posted February 13, 2010 Can you please help me id a 3* in Hollywood Area, for April 6th-9th, for 2 adults and 2 kids? Amenities include bed choice, smoke free, complimentary breakfast, fitness laundry and internet. Price is $75. I checked the list and, with the exception of bed choice, it looks like the Ramada Near Universal, for which I already have a reservation for $69.50 plus $15 parking. Wondering if it could be another one that doesn't charge parking? Thanks.
Colfax Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Ramada Universal is my best guess, travlgrl. Wondering if it could be another one that doesn't charge parking?Almost all hotels in your three acceptable zones charge for parking. Even Motel 6 charges for parking in Hollywood. The decent hotels with parking included usually have rates like $100-120, so it could be cheaper to get a nicer place for $55 or $60 on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE and pay $20 to park. In your first post you said you'd go to $80. If that still holds I think you might get something better than Ramada bidding in $50-60 range on PRICELINE in BH-WH with parking extra.

travlgrl Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Ok, the price for the Ramada, or so it seems, has gone down to $65. I have a bed choice option of 2 queens for $4 more. Weird thing is that if I search for 2 adults only, I get a rate of $64 plus $2 for the 2 queen bed option. What happens if I choose 2 adults only with 2 queen beds?
travlgrl Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 I decided to go for it, as I had $80 hot dollars that were going to expire soon, and it was, indeed, the Ramada Hollywood Hotel. After using my hot dollars, I think I got a great deal. Again this was a 3* in Hollywood Area, for April 6th-9th, for 2 adults and 2 kids. Amenities included bed choice, smoke free, complimentary breakfast, fitness, laundry and internet. I got the $65 rate, but didn't take the bed choice option, as I checked the hotel's website and they only have 2 queen bed rooms for parties of 4 or 5. Other rooms had either 1 queen or 1 king, for 3 people max. Hope it works out well.I forgot to add that I used your HOTWIRE link.
thereuare Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and are happy with the results... when including your hot Dollars certainly a very nice deal.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
