Bob Loblaw Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Hi again....I have been having a little trouble getting a hotel in the Clearwater area for March 4th-March 5th through Priceline (via this site). I was hoping to secure the Clearwater Beach Hilton or Marriott (only 3.5 star hotels for Clearwater Beach) and went as high as 120$ with my re-bids. When that failed, I tried to secure a 4* in St.Petersburg (Renaissance Vinoy seems to be the most oft won) also with no luck. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, I noticed that somebody posted a vehicle win on this page. Any plans on expanding a section on vehicle wins? Thanks in advance.

Bob Loblaw Posted January 20, 2010 Author Report Posted January 20, 2010 Yellow Dog- Since you are familiar with the area, perhaps you can recommend a decent area. Travelling from Halifax on March 3rd into Orlando. We are renting a van (my wife, myself and 6 month old twin boys).......our plans have actually changed and we now need to get a hotel on the Gulf Coast for March 3rd for 4 days. (we have a house rented from the 7th-17th)....we prefer somewhere on the beach and somewhere near Clearwater because we have Phillies-Bankees tickets for March 4th. Obviously with the young ones we want something respectable and in the 100$ per range. Thanks.
Malcolmsuperstar Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 you sure pick the most expensive time to go to Florida.. its March break for 190 million kids who 11% come from the UK, US, CAN, and Europe to Florida.Your going to be so stressed with traffic and having to keep a closer eye on your kids on the beach. you might better off using HOTWIRE secret hotel and pay the price that is shown.. seems that for March break, only high end hotels are offering $195 ~up on priceline name your price. Cheaper to use HOTWIRE for March.you might want to see launch number two of the shuttle since they are only 5 launches left t'ill fall 2010, until all the space shuttles expires for life and go into various museums.

Bob Loblaw Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 I would just like to close out this thread by letting you know that we played it safe (and cheaper for this time of year) by just renting a house for the full period of our stay from March 3rd-March 17th. 4 bedroom house with a pool for 1000$ for 14 days so with the infants it seemed like a better plan. Thanks nonetheless and thank you for the car rental link......when we book ours we will do so through your site. Have a good day.
