melle18 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Hello I'm new to this wonderful forum. I'm looking for a hotel in LA in August. I might be too early I guess but on the moment there's a 4* Hollywood Area coming up for $149 for 10-12 August which I can't identify using the Hotwire list Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Spa ServicesNo TripAdvisor ratingAny assistance is much appreciated. Thank you!
thereuare Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I might be too early I guess...Does $149 for a 4* hotel in this area seem like a good deal and are you willing to commit to a non-refundable purchase this far ahead of your stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. melle18 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks for the welcome. That's a good question. I'm not sure, It also depends on the hotel....
thereuare Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board. There are some board members who are local to the area who may be able to take a guess as to the ID and hopefully they will respond with their thoughts. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 The new W Hollywood is opening in a few weeks. This could be that.
lionlady Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Indeed it is the yet-to-be opened W Hollywood!Extract from my recent hotwire hotel post:4* Los Angeles (Hollywood) 5/29 - 6/3 W Hollywood Hotel $149 per night (plus tax)Amenities:Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessNon-Smoking RoomsSpaBrand New Hotel near Walk of Fame - Could not be happier! And of course, I used the Betterbidding link to HOTWIREThanks to everyone in this forum for helping me in this decision!
melle18 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 Thanks for the the confirmation. We are still in doubt as the parking costs 32 $ and internet isn't for free either
AaronJB Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 I would guess that parking is likely similarly priced at many hotels in this area; there may be a parking lot/garage nearby that is more reasonably priced.
lionlady Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Hi Guys,I was checking back on Hotwire & the W Hollywood Hotel rate for my same booking date seems to fluctuate between $143 - $144 - $149 - $159Is this a common occurrence on Hotwire?Just want to understand how this works. Thanks in Advance!
thereuare Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Yes, common with HOTWIRE....HOTWIRE usus a variable mark-up so that the hotel always priced at $140 in a given area doesn't always result in HotelA and a $145 hotel in the same area doesn't always result in HotelB. By flucutating the prices it helps create uncertainty in regards to which hotel is being offered on a given offering. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. lionlady Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Thanks! I did not know it would be that elaborate a plan to create uncertainty
