I would assume that this is the Country Inn, but a pool is not listed. Could it be because it's January and not in season?

I like this Country Inn and have stayed there many times...just never using HOTWIRE.

Hotels don't typically remove amenity icons for seasonanility factors. This could be the Country Inn and Suites, but with many similarly rated hotels in this area which offer the above amenities, i don't think it could be said with any degree of confidence that this is in fact the Country Inn and Suites with a 'missing' Pool icon.

Here's a question:

Will Hotwire allow me to book just the first night so that I can see which hotel it is? If it is indeed the Country Inn, can I then just go ahead and book the next two nights on Hotwire right after?

You'll first need to search HOTWIRE for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for your balance to make sure that the same hotel (based upon star rating and amenities) appears for each leg of your stay. It's possible that by splitting the dates you're offered different hotel(s) for each leg of the stay vs. booking the complete stay, but if what you believe to be the same hotel is offered on two separate searches, then it shouldn't be any issue.

I went with my gut and indeed it IS the Country Inn. I booked the first night to make sure, then the other 2 nights and it worked like a charm.

It's weird that there is no Pool icon listed in the Amenities though....very strange.

Also, yes I used the HOTWIRE links you provided, even though I'm not sure what they do.

From what I can tell, there are really only 2 hotels listed for "Ventura": The Crowne Plaza & The Country Inn, so it's pretty simple.
