med Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 We won a bid on Priceline for the Marriott in Copenhagen for next July. Is there the possibility to upgrade to an "Executive Level" room (ie, drinks, breakfast, etc) for an additional amount? If there is, how do we go about this. Directly with the hotel?

Rhine-and-Roses Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 The answer is YES, you can at least at some Marriotts. I have been offered an upgrade for between $40 and $170 (local currency converted to $) for Marriott upgrades. Budapest, London Park Lane, and Prague all pushed the upgrade at check-in. I took the upgrade in Budapest, but not the other two. You may also be permitted to upgrade with points. I would call the hotel in advance and ask. There may be other Marriotts that will upgrade you, but you have to ask. However, my recent experience is hotels are not doing well and they are pushing the upgrades to make a little more money.Have been offered upgrades for additional fees at other chains too, including Intercontinental, Westin, Renaissance, and Hilton. All were in Europe. If we are two in the room, I usually take it because it usually beats the cost of two breakfasts.
thereuare Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks for the follow-up.Can you please add the date(s) of your stay to this thread so we can edit the topic title accordingly and enable this win to appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.As far as upgrading, it will largely be based upon hotel occupancy levels as well as how agressive the hotel wants to be in generating revenue. You can call now to see if they're willing to allow you to purchase an upgrade ahead of your stay, but more than likely they'll tell you to ask at check-in.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
