Hello,

Before anything, let me tell you I am very confused about everything. Confused about priceline, confused about new york / new jersey, confused about how betterbidding works.

Anyways, here is the information you need.

( a ) I am working in manhattan, here <link removed>

( b ) I can live 1.5 hours away, no problem

( c ) I need a place for one week to find a place to rent for months **OR** if i find a place for $30 a night, I would want to stay there for the first month in that hotel.

What I need form you:

[1] what locations are suitable for me?

[2] What are my price ranges?

[3] How fast will I get a reply from priceline/hotel

Thanks you, I appreciate any help.

For internet security/safety, i've removed your masked link above... please let us know where you need to be (either using text or a direct link to a well known mapping provider, assuming that is what you had posted)

We'll start with the info above, but i'll comment that:

1) $30 is probably not a realistic expectation

2) i'd re-think your willingness to commute 1.5 hours each day

Do you even know that for 5 years, I traveled 1.5 hours each way?

My employer is mid town manhattan.

To make everyone happy, I need any place that is 1 hour away, for $50-70 a night, from Jan 2 - Jan 8.

Thank you

It's going to be difficult to do this thru an opaque booking channel since not every part of every zone is walkable to mass transit to take you into the city.

HOTWIRE may still be an option if you can reasonably identify the proerty beforehand. The most convenient location near your current budget would be the Secaucus-Meadowlands zone on HOTWIRE, where what i believe to be the Holiday Inn Harmon Meadow is avaialble for $72/nite which would provide easy access to Manhattan... close bus stop to the hotel as well as other things nearby for everyday essentials (Wal-Mart, Sams Club, few restaurants, etc) Best of all it would only be about 20 minutes into Manhattan, which i would think would be worth the few dollars over your current budget, but not sure how flexible your budget really is.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

I have a question please.

How will things change if I want to get a flight from Toronto to Newark Airport?

Can I get a deal for a flight including the 72/per night hotel deal?

Thank you

You won't be able to book a pacakge with that rate with PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.

HOTWIRE no longer offers packages (their searches go thru thru Expedia) and PRICELINE doesn't allow Canadian departures for their packages/airfare product.

You would need to make the hotel purchase via HOTWIRE and purchase your airfare separately.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply.

Here is the info:

Secaucus, Jan 2 - Jan 6...including the night of the 5th. So that's 4 nights in total.

Holiday Inn Harmon Meadow is good.

Anywhere between $70-90 per night.

I will make sure to click on whatever link you provide me.

If you search HOTWIRE there is a 3* hotel in the Secaucus-Meadowlands zone for ~$60 (your price may differ by a few dollars) with Fitness, Restaurant, Business, and Internet icons.

This matches previous reports for the Holiday Inn Harmon Meadow and that would be my best guess for this property.

Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.

Thank you very much for the help.

I booked it, and it was that Holiday Inn.

It is newly renovated also. Thank you.

One more question: how much should a shuttle to manhattan cost? Each way.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for as i believe this should work well for your plans. Besides easy access to Manhattan, it's also near some shops, restaurants, a movie theatre (a little run down), ice cream shoppe, etc, etc as well as a Walmart where you can pick up supplies, breakfast items, etc for your room.

You can take the NJ TRANSIT 320 Bus into Manhattan for $3.15/ow. If you end up staying here for an extended period you coudl also buy a monthly pass and there may also be 10 ticket packages at a slightly reduced rate.

As well, this hotel offers a complimentary shuttle within a 4 mile radius, although i'm not sure if they'll take you to Secaucus Junction Train Station (which is 2 miles away) which would offer an alternate method of getting into the city, if necessary.

Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.

Enjoy your stay... and good luck on the job!

One more question: how much should a shuttle to manhattan cost? Each way.

The #320 bus is very convenient and the bus stop is about 200 yards from the Holiday Inn front door and the trip will be about 25 mintues to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. You did very well by getting this hotel relative to distance to Manhattan and the local amenities nearby, you will be happy that your commute is about an hour (roundtrip) vs. three hours a day.
