annsch Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 I need 3 rooms for 1/16/10-1/18/10 pre cruise Miami . I am not familiar with this area at all but have read that downtown is the best place to stay. Would prefer 4 * but 3 1/2 * works for me too.I really don't know the price range to start bidding for this time of year . Any help is much appreciated

thereuare Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 would south beach or downtown be a better area pre cruise we will not have a rental car?It depends what you're looking for and intending to do for these two days... Downtown is cloest to the port and usually the best choice for a one nite stay, but there isn't too much to do Downtown and not walkable to a beach or anything like that. What is the gameplan for these two nites? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. yellowdog Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 annschwhich beach zone(s) are you willing to stay in? Yellowdog. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
annsch Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 I'm not familiar with Miami and we won't have arental car ; somewhere where we can walk to beach; bars and dinner
yellowdog Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 The board need to know the zone(s) you're willing to stay in so we don't suggest a zone that you're not comfortable with. Please have a look at the maps on the PRICELINE bidding page.Or maybe it's better for you to use HOTWIRE for this stay. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Yellowdog.
annsch Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 south beach or downtown; south beach would be first choice walking distance to beach
thereuare Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 If you go to PRICELINE and look at their zones for this area, note that South Beach is divided into three separate sub-zones... are all of these acceptable to you? What about Miami Beach? Also, note that as mentioned above, Downtown is convenient to the cruise port, but there isn't too much to do in the immediate area (most who are in the area for one nite pre-cruise go to Bayside Marketplace for dinner) but you probably won't want to venture too far from your hotel unless you're taking a cab.Once you let us know which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, are acceptable, also let us know if you're willing to pay more for any of these zones vs. the others, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow (also note that your budget may be tough for the beach area and the star quality you're talking)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. annsch Posted November 28, 2009 Author Report Posted November 28, 2009 These are the zones i would like to try for and I'm willing to go up to $125 per room 3.5 or 4* Miami Beach South Beach - Central South Beach - Collins Avenue Oceanfront South Beach - Ocean Drivethanksann
thereuare Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 One more question for us to suggest a strategy for you...Did you want to bid up to your limit for a 4* hotel and then if rejected try for a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. TravelPhotographer Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 there isn't too much to do Downtown and not walkable to a beach or anything like that.Downtown shopping during day. Bayfront shopping complex @ night.Downtown events at American Airline Arena or Adrienne Arscht Performing Arts complex.Free Metromover ~10min. to upscale Brickell District nightlife, dining.$5 rt Metrobus to South Beach ~15min. each way.(dress down for all the above IMO when using public transportation)
