flo86 Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Hello everyone,I've been trying to get a room for this time for 1 or 2 weeks now, but didn't have any success yet.I don't even care, where the hotel is, though somewhere in the Midtown area would be best.I tried all areas in Manhattan and went up to 130$. I see people getting the Millenium Hilton some days before or the Hilton New York some days after for less.Is there anything special this weekend, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance
AaronJB Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What areas have you bid in exactly so far? It would depend on where you've bid, but I don't think you're far off. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
flo86 Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Thanks :)I bid in MTW/MTE/ESB/TSTD/CPS/Downtown. So more or less, all areas with 4* except for UWS.I can't go much higher. Is there a chance that prices will get lower or is it usually better to book as long before as possible?
AaronJB Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 If there's something going on during these dates (convention) causing higher prices, then rates can go higher. There's no way to know for sure, but it's best to at least keep trying up to your max every couple of days to see if anything does open up at your price point. A little bit above your max is the 4* Stay Hotel, which is $159 on Orbitz, but if you use coupon code FABSAVE10 that takes off 10% = $143.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links.
flo86 Posted November 14, 2009 Author Report Posted November 14, 2009 Finally got Affinia Dumont for $135 this morning. I'm not too happy with it though, as it's only about 10% off normal rate. On the other hand, the ratings on tripadvisor seem really good and I guess it will be a good place to start sightseeing. So, thanks for your help.Oh, I used the site's PRICELINE link of course.
