AaronJB Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 We would need to know where you are trying to bid/purchase in order to help regarding a suggestion/strategy on how to proceed. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
mellovesblue Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 Hi need a hotel for the night of 1/2/2010, in Fort Lauderdale Airport, or at least with a shuttle. 2.5* minimum, cheapest price. This time of year is busy.Reading all the threads, it looks like I can get the hyatt place north for $89 + tax using HOTWIRE, and I am sure there is a shuttle. But it looks like I can get it for less using PRICELINE.I wonder if the price will drop or increase , or if I should buy it now.thanks for your help
thereuare Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I'm not sure i'm seeing the Hyatt Place in the FLL zone on HOTWIRE, what are the details (zone, amenities, and star rating) of the HOTWIRE property you're refering to?A Shuttle is not guaranteed with a PRICELINE bid, is this a risk you're willing to accept? If so, what is your maximum bid to bid on PRICELINE? Did you want to try for a 2.5* property or a higher rated property (ie- similar to the Hyatt Place which would be higher rated than 2.5*)As far as when to bid see the related 'bid early or close to arrival' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. mellovesblue Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 Hi,on Hotwire, for the following dates : 1/2/10 to 1/3/10 I can see a hotel a $89 + tax with the following amenities :3 starairport shuttlesmoke free roomscomplementary breakfastfitness centerpools business centerhigh speed internet accessI don't want to take the risk to get a hotel with no shuttle to the airportIs there a way I can be sure to get the Hyatt Place North with Priceline for less than $89 ?Do you think the price will drop on hotwire ?I agree to bid for a 2.5* if price is way cheaper than a 3*Thanks for your help
TravelPhotographer Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Related question, when this red box warning:"Based on recent data, your price has only a small chance of being accepted."appears before submitting bid, say, at $50, but disappears at $51, what, if anything, can be deduced?at $50 priceline doesn't bother to forward offer to property?there is never a winning bid when warning appears?there is not necessarily a winning bid when warning disappears?other?Any advice appreciated. regards
mellovesblue Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 in my short life as a priceliner, I have never won a bid when the red warning, or even adding $1 to this waring price, thanks
thereuare Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 With PRICELINE you should ignore the "red box warning"... we have seen hotels won even when this message appears, but likewise, this box not showing does not guarantee success.I see the Downtown hotel you're refering to (i was previously looking in the Airport zone) and agree that the best guess is the Hyatt Place. There is no way to target a specific hotel with PRICELINE and if you choose to bid you could receive any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select.Nobody can say if the price will go down (or up) between now and your stay, but besides price risk, you also run the risk that this property disappears entirely from the offerings and is replaced with something else (which you may not like and/or doesn't offer a shuttle) Assuming the ID of the Hyatt Place is correct, this would be over a 50% savings vs a conventionally booked room for this nite and i would take the deal if this works for your needs. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
