kraven Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I'm on a first trip into San Francisco and really like the look of the Omni.As I have never used PRICELINE successfully, can someone give me some tips on getting this hotel ? The best price I can get on Omni's own website is $172 + tax, but booking.com I can get $154 per night + tax.I will be using your PRICELINE link, but how should I enter and pitch my bidding ?Or do you think as a first trip to SF, I should be looking at SOMA or USE / USW ?Thanks, K.
AaronJB Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)The issue with PRICELINE bidding is that there is no way to target a particular hotel when bidding. If you bid for a 4* in an area, you have to be willing to accept any of the 4*'s in that area. Would you be willing to stay at a different property, or are you only interested in the Omni? What is your budget per night?Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
kraven Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 Thank you for replying so quickly!I would ideally want to pay no more than $100 + tax per night, but as you say it really is a gamble :)
AaronJB Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 The Omni is in the Embarcadero area on HOTWIRE, but unfortunately there is not a 4* in that area showing on HOTWIRE for these dates. What zones would you be interested in trying for?
kraven Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 There is a 4* showing on PRICELINE, would it be likely that Priceline would have the hotel if Hotwire didn't ?As for zones, I'm willing to take any tips you have, but I guess USE,USW or SOMA ?I seem to be seeing a 4.5* in USE, from other posts this seems to be the Inter-Continental as I can't find any other 4.5* hotels in the area and it's got good reviews. I think this is going to be my fallback. Thanks, K.
thereuare Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 There is a 4* showing on PRICELINE...PRICELINE doesn't show availablility of hotels... how are you determining that they have a 4* hotel available for your dates? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Colfax Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Or do you think as a first trip to SF, I should be looking at SOMA or USE / USW ?Among the Downtown zones, Embarcadero-Financial Disctrict (which includes the Omni) is the quietest zone, especially on weekends, because that area is mostly bank and finance related office buildings. If you want to be more "in the action" with restaurants, clubs, and shopping near your hotel I'd favor any of USW, USE, or SOMA.
