dc3 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 This is a fine old hotel that is totally renovated - in central Milan , about a 20 minute walk from Centrale Stazione (and the airport shuttle buses) at Repubblica Metro and S-line (with a connection to Malpensa Airport at Bovisa via the Malpensa Express train on Le Nord). The hotel is a short walk to the central shopping and tourist areas but the immediate area is a business district and public garden, The hotel is elegant and the staff are polite and friendly. The rooms are small but very attractive. Large tour groups appear and spend one night and move on. They upgraded us to a renovated room though we were there on Priceline and they also include a great breakfast. The hotel is on Via Targhetti if you are taking a taxi but due to construction it was best to be dropped off at the corner, We had an early flight on our last day and had to take a cab at 4 am to Centrale to catch the bus. The hotel has a direct line to the taxi and said there was no need for an advance reservation and they were right. They told us a cab would arrive within six minutes and it was there in four - at 4 am. The fare at this hour was double the normal fare. The hotel was a bargain for Milan and it was a very nice place to stay. Milan is an elegant and calm city with some tourist attractions and lots of high end fashion shopping. If you have a choice of airports, avoid Malpensa and choose Linnate, which is so much closer and a lot easier to get to, The city is served by a great railway station with trains to wherever you want to go. We were surprised to see that the trams by the hotel were from the 1920's and 1930's -Witt cars that they preserve and keep in terrific shape. They have a sense of style and history. Food in Milan was a good value and the hotel can make fine recommendations. We would be happy to return to the NH Milano Touring.
