dgoregon Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 I will be traveling for business and am extending my stay for 2 nights 10/22-10/24. Would like to stay downtown USE or USW for $100/night at a 4*. Please give me some advice on bidding strategy for priceline. Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Rates are very high for these dates and i'm doubtful you'll be able to find a 4* hotel within your budget. If you want to give it a try so you can begin to consider other options, you have FIVE re-bid zones when bidding 4* in San Francisco. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* USE and USW...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. dgoregon Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 Thanks for the strategy. Is there a more reasonable amount you think I should consider as my budget? I was trying to get a "good deal"
thereuare Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Rates are date specific, and a 'good deal' is relative to what you can get thru conventional booking channels... have you check hotel direct and 'non-opaque' rates for your dates above?A quick look at Expedia shows rates for a 4* hotel in the Downtown/Union Square area shows most hotels listed at $300+ for your nites (although the Westin St Francis is the one 4* at under $300... priced at $258/nite average)We'll obviously start lower and work our way up, but i'm guessing that closer to $150+ is going to be more realistic then closer to $100.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dgoregon Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 $150 per night would be ok and it appears it would be pretty good for these dates...with 5 re bid zones should I begin at $125? Thanks
thereuare Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 Using your FIVE re-bid zones i'd try as follows:(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* USE and USW...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE and USW and re-bid zone4...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE and USW and re-bid zone5...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* USE and USW and re-bid zone4 and re-bid zone5...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
