I bid this Thur/Fri/Sat stay on behalf of friends who don't like waiting til the last minute, like I do.

$95/4* was rejected in USE and SOMA-Moscone. $100 accepted.

WSF is only $141 on the hotel's website, so this isn't a huge discount. But WSF was one of their preferred hotels so they're happy. If they get a tiny room next to the elevator I imagine they'll pay for an upgrade.

HOTWIRE has what looks like Westin for $123.

Bids placed through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.

My friends report they were assigned a "standard" room, which means a small room with 1 Queen bed and no view in the Historic tower. They paid $20/night for an upgrade to a larger room with King bed in the Historic tower overlooking Union Square.

At retail the upgraded rooms cost $50 more than the "standard" room so the $20 upgrade is a good deal. When I stayed at the Westin in April they wanted $35/night to upgrade so it looks like they've reduced the upgrade fee, or that the upgrade fee varies by date. Or maybe my friends wear better shoes than me.
