giadav Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Hello....I have never used priceline to bid for airfare, but i have successfully used it for hotels. The going rate for a 1 stop round trip ticket is $515 with taxes ($466 w/out taxes). how do I go about bidding? Could I possible get a ticket for around $200-250? is that reasonable? Boston to Rapid City, SD.Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 It hasn't been a great market for deep discuonts in airfare, but given the prices above, how much of a discount would you need to make an opaque airfare purhase (where you can't choose the times of depature/arrival, length or city of layover, etc) worthwhile? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. giadav Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Probably not more than $300 per ticket including taxes. What do you think? Thanks for moving this thread, I posted it in the wrong spot and couldn't correct it.
thereuare Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 So you're looking at a maximum bid of ~$250/tix (given the $50 fees/taxes above)While deep airfare discounts have generally been tough to come by lately, you can start at $150 (or whatever price you choose) and increase in $10 increments (or whatever amount you choose) by using airfare re-bids, using different cities as your departing/arrival airport. See this Priceline Airfare Re-Bidding thread for further info and ask any questions that you may have. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
