Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Financial District-Embarcadero) Hyatt Regency

Celebrating my first anniversary, needs some assistance. I looking to book Sat - Monday (2 nights).

On a budget, so probably can only afford $100/nt (including taxes) so no more than $200, but the more inexpensive the better.

Do I try for just one night and see if priceline offers me an additional night at the same price?

I really would like to stay near fishermans wharf (section 3) on the priceline map. Anywhere downtown would be nice too.

What price should I start my bid at? Since Im staying later in the month, should I try booking now or wait til it gets closer? Any help is appreciated.

I'd start now. If you really want fishermans warf start at say maybe $70 for a 3.5 * and then if that doesn't work use rebid zones 1, 4, and 8 (as they do not currently contain 3.5* hotels) and increase your bid in $5 increments. If nothing is accepted try again tomorrow or start bidding on other areas of interest.

Do you want to bid Fishermans Wharf up to your limit and then try for Downtown zones OR is price most important and you'll take the least expensive hotel in any of your acceptable zones? Which "downtown" zones are acceptable?

What star rating do you prefer? Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel or would you prefer a lower rated hotel for less money? What is your maximum bid before taxes and fees.

Also, i wouldn't SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID unless you have too... PRICELINE may not offer the option to extend the stay OR if they do, you might not be successful and the additional nite may be cost prohibitive, forcing you to change hotels for a 2 nites stay.

Price is most important to me since I am trying to budget. I prefer these zones, they are in order of interest:

Zone 3 - Fishermans Wharf

Zone 4 - Marina - Lombard Street

Zone 2, 9, 10

Zone 1, 5

Star rating, I'd prefer a 3+ or higher.

My max bid would be around $80/night - so after taxes it would be around $200 for 2 nights

To avoid any confusion please list the zones by PRICELINE name.

Also, you mention that price i the most important factor, but then also list your zone preference order... do you want to try up to your limit first in your preferred zone before moving on to the next zone, trying that area up to your limit, and so-on and so-on until you've succeeded or gone thru all your zones OR are you are you really looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel in any of the above zones?

Also, are you willing to pay more for a higher priced hotel or anything 3* or better is sufficient?

A couple days ago another bidder reported winning your exact dates for $95 at the 3.5* Sir Francis Drake in USE zone.

$95 was their first bid in the USE zone, so it might be available in between the $80 you've already bid and $95.

Still No Luck - I've gone up to $90/night

I tried today, last minute and ended up with the Hyatt Regency San Francisco - Financial District/Embarcadero for $100 per night. Total after tax was $238 for 2 nights.

I am happy with this considering the cheapest rate on their website is $207/per night.
