marketwiz Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 I started bidding in USE and USW two days ago and forgot to use this site (sorry...I'm old and forgetful). Bid $85 first in USE and then added USW and was rejected both times. Then upped the bid by $2 the next day and again by another $2 ($89 now) today, same result. I'm not anxious and since I'm 3 plus weeks out will continue to move slowly. And will use this site from now on.Last time I did this in June (for 3 nights) I got the Hilton is USE and was very happy with it. In the past I've gotten the Fairmont for around $90 (a year ago), the Mark Hopkins for $85 and the Stanford Court (a couple years ago), all on priceline.I'm willing to add the Embarcadaro at the 4* level as a last resort, but want to stay within walking distance of Union Square. We're only staying in the city one night and then moving to Danville to babysit grandkids.Any advice is appreciated.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! How high are you willing to bid before you consider the Embarcadero zone as a 'last resort'?Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. marketwiz Posted September 9, 2009 Author Report Posted September 9, 2009 I'm willing to go to $125 as I get closer.
Colfax Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 I'm willing to add the Embarcadaro at the 4* level as a last resort, but want to stay within walking distance of Union Square.Would a 3.5* in USE work for you, marketwiz? Sir Francis Drake is the only reported 3.5* in USE. The Marriott Union Square is another 3.5* possibility but it hasn't been reported here yet. Both hotels are a block from Union Square.
skatensx Posted September 10, 2009 Report Posted September 10, 2009 I'm willing to go to $125 as I get closer.the usc vs cal game is that weekend. it might be a reason that rooms cost more since lots of people from la come up for the weekend.
