Hi, I am trying to go to see a play at Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA. But I am so unfamiliar with that area that I do not know what area to bid? The play is at 10:30 pm and I will be heading in to town from NYC after work, so I am ok with getting a room a little distance away if it is nicer. Would prefer 3* and up looking to spend $60 - $80 ? Trying to stay max 2 nights 9/17 - 9/18 check out on Saturday 9/19. Thanks so much in advance for all help. Dave.

PRICELINE doesn't offer hotels directly in Darby. If you search PRICELINE for this city they suggest the following location:

Paulsboro, New Jersey (21.4 miles from Darby)

as well as larger nearby cities:

Philadelphia, PA Suburbs

Philadelphia, PA

Wilmington, DE

If you go to Maps and Hotels.com, change the radius to 10 minutes and search for Darby, PA you'll get a feel for where there are a large number of hotels in the area and the distance to Darby... Philadelphia seems like the most populated area nearby (Downtown, Airport, or Universit zones) but not sure how close you need to be OR if you're also looking for things to do at other times of the day, as well as what would be wtihin your budget for these dates.

Let us know your thoughts on zone(s) and we'll take it from there.

Ok, so it seems like Philadelphia (University) is only about a 10-15 min drive but downtown philly is an extra 10 min drive which is not a problem since I will have my car with me. I would like to stay at atleast 3* (pref. 3.5 - 4) spending up to $80 a night. But have no clue about parking in these areas if anyone has any experience. Thanks again so much. Dave.

you can take Septa's Market-Frankford El train to 69th st. Station and walk to the Tower Theater. There is also a parking garage at the Tower as well. If you bid on a hotel, I agree that the University zone is the best bet, the Sheraton comes up frequently and is located at 36th and Chestnut, but you will need to be prepared to accept any hotel in the zone.

Also, if you are coming in from NYC, you might want to consider Amtrak, there was a 25% off promotion for the Northeast Corridor.

Good Luck!

Well looks like after a bunch of anxious bidding for 2 days I didn't quite do it right and got 3.5 star Philadelphia Marriott Downtown for $76, could have done it cheaper but not thinking and its 3am but atleast i got a room so i am happy also it is near metro to the theater i want to go. Used the PRICELINE link and again thanks for all help from everyone. Dave.

Congratulations on your success... what aspect don't you think you did correctly?

I feel like i could have bid a bit lower but in hindsight and checking other wins in that area, I am still happy about the hotel so the few bucks i could've bid lower i still saved over a $100 if i didn't do it through PRICELINE. Thanks again everyone. Dave.
