The 4* NH Manin is in the heart of Venice, directly on the Grand Canal. The Priceline rate ($110) got us a room with a kingsize bed on the canal side on the ground floor. It is a lovely hotel in a converted palazzo, right at the San't Angelo vaporetto stop with its front door on the canal. Breakfast is included and you can have it in the lovely garden. It is a full buffet and they serve your beverage. The floors are all venetian marble. A walk in the lanes behind the hotel gets you to restaurants and stores. The room was excellent and although small it felt palatial. As you ride on the canal, you see that the very best hotels front the canal. We felt privileged. The staff treated us like honored guests and friends, with great advice. We would simply hop on the vaporetto to go most places. There are small supermarkets tucked in the laneways. To get there from the train station, exit straight out and head for the shore of the canal. Buy your transit pass (the boats are AMT transit) at dockside and go to the boarding station (one of the yellow and glass shelters) for line 1 in the direction of Lido. Make sure you see that Sant Angelo is a stop on the line posted above the dock exit. They run every ten minutes. Line 2 goes in the same general direction but skips Sant Angelo.
