cathylk621 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 This is my first post here, but am ready to start bidding for a 4* hotel in Times Square for 4 nights in October. I just want to clarity my free re-bid zones as follows: Chelsea, Brooklyn, Long Island City, MSG, and Upper East Side. Thank you, any advice is welcome.

cathylk621 Posted September 5, 2009 Author Report Posted September 5, 2009 I'm confused, for 4*, it appears on Priceline that there are hotels in UES they can put you in at that star level, and being that I am trying for Times Square only, I am hesitant to use UES as a free re-bid.
dahammer Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 you didn't list your dates of travel, but when I checked and unchecked each zone individually, the highest star rating for the following zones are less than 4*:Brooklyn, Chelsea, Long Island City, Madison Square Garden, Upper East Side.

OR are you going to the 'opaque' version of PRICELINE and clicking each zone one by one? (and looking at which star ratings are selectable depending upon which zone is checked)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- please do include the dates of your stay in your next post Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
cathylk621 Posted September 5, 2009 Author Report Posted September 5, 2009 My dates for travel are Oct 9-13. I go to the opaque version and click on upper manhattan as my choice to be in and it pulls up: Le Parker Meridian,Empire, Loews regency, 6 Columbus, and Jumeirah essex as upper Manhattans. Are those considered upper East sides?
thereuare Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 "Upper Manhattan" is not a zone in the "opaque" version of PRICELINE... you're looking at the "retail" version of PRICELINE.Use this PRICELINE link: PRICELINE OR the search box on the top right corner of the board and you'll be taken directly to the 'opaque' version of PRICELINE when you do your search. Then check your re-bid zones using the technique in Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a PRICELINE page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
