Catching QM2 on Nov. 30 so flying into New York the day before and wanted to be close to the pier in Brooklyn. Had heard the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge was nice and 5 mins from the pier. Used the links on this site and visited PRICELINE.com.

Bid $119 and was denied, but offered a free rebid if I increased by $22. Usually I say no, but I really wanted this hotel and rebids in NYC are limited so I caved. Got 2 rooms for $141 and the going rate is more than double that.

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results.

Before you arrive, i'd recommend printing out a map of Red Hook Pier, zoomed in to street level, just in case the taxi driver doesn't know how to get there. Even though it's just a short ride from the Marriott, it's in an infrequently traveled area for taxi drivers, and many still don't know exactly where it's located. See Hotels By The Pier.com for a map with the pier's location as well as the location of the Marriott.

Thanks for the tip on the taxis. We were on board last year as well and did notice our cab driver seeming quite confused when we asked him to take us to Red Hook. I was hoping a year onward, they would have been informed. I'll bring the map just to be safe.
