johnlusf Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Hi, I'm new here, as you can see. I would like some assistance in identifying this hotel. Here is the information:4 stars and up, Midtown East Area.12/8/09 - 12/10/09 for $279 a night.Amenities: fitness center, restaurants, business center, high speed internet, tennisTripadvisor rating 3.5 out of 5.Am I missing any other information? From my preliminary research, it would appear to be either the Intercontinental Barclay or the Grand Hyatt. Thanks so much.
AaronJB Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Welcome to the site. You are correct - this could be either the Intercontinental or Hyatt. My guess would lean towards the Intercontinental, but there is no way to know for sure which it might be.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
johnlusf Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 Thanks alot! Looking at the prices quoted on sites like Hotel.com, my guess was also leaning towards the Intercontinental... I'll report back if I decide to take the plunge.
AaronJB Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link and let us know what you decide or if you have any questions.
johnlusf Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Well I tried to use Priceline for the first time today and looked through a lot of the old threads about rebidding. For some reason, I've run into something weird. So I'm looking for 4* in NYC, meaning there are 5 rebid zones.I bid for A, then rebid with B. People suggested that I close the browser and log back in. This bid is now under "My Trips" and if I click on it, both zones A and B are greyed out.I start a new bid... I try bidding for A again with a higher offer - and it lets me do it! I thought you can't bid on the same zone with a merely a higher price? In any case, I rebid with C and then close the browser and log back in. This second bid is now also under "My Trips" and if I click on it, both zones A and C are greyed out.I start a new bid... I try bidding for A again with another higher offer - and it lets me do it again. I rebid with D. No dice. This last time, I bid with A, rebid with E, and rebid again with F.Am I doing something wrong? Under "My Trips" I have about four "Requests" (AB, AC, AD, AEF)
thereuare Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Soometimes there is a glitch and the system won't lock you out, but generally speaking the above will not work and can't be relied upon as a consistent bidding strategy. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
johnlusf Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 I'm back to report back that I did, indeed, get the Intercontinental for the dates listed above. Thanks, guys!
dahammer Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 great! Can you please confirm your winning PRICELINE bid, or did you use HOTWIRE?
