early girl
I will be moving to NYC on February 1 and will be flying out for a week in early January to look for a Brooklyn apartment. I am flexible on location and exact dates for a hotel reservation. The dates above are just 'target' dates--though I definitely want to travel during the first half of the month. I can arrive and/or depart any day of the week. I am looking for a room for one person, near the subway. Thanks in advance for any tips. I have never bid for a hotel before. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! What type of star level and price range do you have in mind? With a flexible schedule as you have this shouldn't be too difficult, but i'll ask first if you would be interested in SPLITTING YOUR BID. In your instance it wouldn't necessarily be in order to get a better price, but it might give you a feel for different parts of the city to which you will soon be moving to. This may be a good plan if you think you'll have time to explore a bit, but not such a good plan if you pack heavy and would have consider it an ordeal to change hotels.Let us know the answers to the above and we'll suggest a strategy to follow.Let me be one of the first to welcome you to NYC! :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
early girl
Thanks for all the help.Yes, I am willing to split my bid. I would prefer a 4-star hotel but will go for a 3-star if necessary. My budget is $1,000 total for all 7 nights, including any room taxes or other incidental hotel costs (are taxes included?). Of course, I would love to pay less. :)Also, a bathtub is important to me. I noticed a 3-star NYC hotel review that said there was no bathtub. Link to comment
WillTravel
Even 4* hotel rooms don't always have bathtubs. So I think Priceline might be too risky if you have to have that. Link to comment
early girl
Well, then, forget the bathtub if it will hamper my bid. More tips welcome. Link to comment
