crystaljinse Posted November 14, 2004 Author Report Posted November 14, 2004 Hi, I'm a Canadian and I just booked from PriceLine , US$38 per night in Vancouver BC, 4 nights( thanks for all the tips providers!!).The taxes and service fees are: US$24.79. I know there will be 10% Hotel Tax if I book through a Canadian website or agency. According to the Priceline.com, GST is not included, which should be 7%. Does anybody know how much the hotel will charge me? Hotel Tax + GST? or just GST? If it's just GST, Is it USD$38 * 7% ?, or will they convert it into Candian Dollar first, like USD$38 * 1.37 * 7%? Thanks
WillTravel Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I've never had a Canadian hotel charge me GST when I booked through Priceline, and I don't think they do.
crystaljinse Posted November 14, 2004 Author Report Posted November 14, 2004 Thanks, WillTravel. Are you a non-resident of Canada? The reason why I ask is Canadian residents are subject to GST.
WillTravel Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 I'm a Canadian resident. I am charged GST if I book conventionally, and I'm not charged GST if I book through Priceline.
crystaljinse Posted November 14, 2004 Author Report Posted November 14, 2004 That's really great! Guess I'm hooked on Priceline now. Thanks WillTravel. Have a wonderful day!
