tuan Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Just bought a 4* hotel and was expecting Emily Morgan (from all the reviews and bids and here) but turn out to be Crown Plaza Riverwalk which is not a 4* hotel. From the reviews its way way way from the activity and is not safe at night which would be our preference before booking. Extremely disappointed. At least it could have been the Drury.I did click though this site link so the site can earn some referral. What can I do?Book for Aug 6, leave on Aug 7 for 4 people,Smoke Free Fitness Center Pool(s)Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry FacilitiesHigh-speed Internet Access
ACKSK Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 We had a similar issue on our last trip. Hotwire bases their review on 3 different websites. I called and emailed them and told them the hotel itself didnt even consider themselves as high as they were saying, and they said there is nothing you can do about it. You can send them an email or call them and tell you what you think, but I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get anywhere. Sorry that happened.
RLTexas Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Same issue here - the Hilton Palacio del Rio is not a 4 star hotel, yet Hotwire has not revised it despite several comments
thereuare Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 First, i apologize for not seeing this thread earlier, i've had some non-board related things to take care of in the past few days and have been playing catch-up.In regards to the OP, while the neighborhood may not be what you were looking for and this property may not be considered 4* in your viewpoint (i'm not familiar with it so can't say if it is or isn't), HOTWIRE is using the 3 major oline booking agencies as a base to determine their rating (i presume this makes it easier to defend/explain star ratings to users who complain about a hotels rating given the subjective nature of star ratings) In this instance Expedia rates this property 3.5* while both Orbitz and Travelocity rate this property 4*, so the average is 3.87 which can be founded up to 4*. Again, i'm not saying this property is worthy of a 4* rating, but if it's not, then both Orbitz and Travelocity have it wrong too. Also, be sure to check the Hotel Lists before your purcahses and/or ask the board for help in confirming what property you think you're being offered... from the hotel list the amenities above match the Crowne Plaza, and not the Emily Morgan, so not sure why you didn't expect this property. So how did your stay ultimately turn out? Other than the surroudning area, how was the hotel itself? Can you also add a reply to this thread with the price paid per nite so we can add this to and complete the topic title.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase.RLTexas, can you please follow-up your Dallas Texas thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay. Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
