Hi, I was just wondering your opinion on the realistic price range for basically central park south, chelsea, empire state building, msg, midtown east, midtown west, and times square area for Oct 20-25. Obviously I'd like a high stared hotel, but will for for 3*. What are your opinions on the hotels lower than 3*? I'd love to get a hotel for about 150/night before fees. Thanks for your help! Also any help on bidding strategies? Thank you so much....

At the moment, i'm guessing the following is the right 'ballpark'; i wouldn't be bidding these figures off the bat, but rather using a bidding strategy to work your way up to these numbers. You're probably looking at $225+ for a 4* hotel... ~$200 for a 3.5*... ~$175 for a 3*.

I wouldn't recommend bidding less than 3* in NYC unless you had a very good idea of what you were likely to get.

Do you want to try for a 3* up to your limit? (or first try for the higher rated hotels up to your limit then then lower the star rating if rejected?)

woo hoo thank you so much for your price points! I decided to give it a go at bidding today and got something accepted! I thought it was great for October!

I first started with 3.5* starting at 120 moving to 140 adding more areas, then I tried 3* at 140 and got it accepted! So excited now, I got Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan, Chelsea West for Oct 20-25. Thanks so much for your help, your price points totally helped to let me know around what area I should be starting! Thank you!
