scouty Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I've been trying for weeks to find a hotel by Central Park for my family of 4 on 8/14-17th.All I ever see is the 2.5* which I assume is the Marrakech - anyone know anything about it?Reviews seem to be inconsistent.Should I hold out and see if anything else comes up? I see on the Hotwire Hotel list there are a few other hotels by the park as well as the upper west and east side - but they never seem to come up.Any suggestions? Thanks!
dahammer Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 please post a conclusion to your Mission Bay Hotel thread and then "bump" this topic.
scouty Posted August 3, 2009 Author Report Posted August 3, 2009 Posted conclusion, don't know how to "bump" sorry.I can get a double at The Lucerne on all the other travel sites for about $210/nite, gets prettygood reviews, close to park - maybe I should just take it?
AaronJB Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Additional $10 off using the coupon code 10AUG on Expedia = $199 per night for the Lucerne. Please use the site's Expedia.com link if this idea is of interest.
thereuare Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Are you looking to stay in the Central Park area?? If so, do you have a specific reason to be in this area, as it's not really the most convenient for the typical visitor, and there seems to be some much better deals, for less, and more centrally located than this. (i'm assuming your family of 4 consists of 2adults/2children... or are your "kids" adult aged?)Let us know the purpose of this visit and what your needs are for this trip and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kdurk Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Check the Hotel Salisbury on 57th and 7th. A block and a half from the park. Spacious rooms. Our family of 4 has stayed there twice and loved it.
AaronJB Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 No availability for the Salisbury for these dates, it would appear. Otherwise, I do agree that it's a very nice property in an excellent location.
scouty Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 A 3* hotel in Central Park area just popped up for $179 nite(Traveling 8/14-8/17). Amenities: boutique hotel, complimentarybreakfast and internet. Can't find a 3* on Hotwire/NYC hotel list - nor any place w/breakfast.Could it be a mistake? Any one have any ideas what this could be?Thanks!

scouty Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 YEs - we'd like to go to the Natural History Musuem and the park - so makes sense to stay @ there.
scouty Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 I ended up with the Lucerne - they have specials thru their website, Queen Suite 2 nites get one at 50% off - so totalis $550. A bit more than I wanted to spend but since our trip got shortened by a nite - we decided itwas worth it - esp. for the suites if you have kids! I'll try HOTWIRE for the rental car we'll be needing.....
