jtam1234 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Hi,I've seen people getting accepted at Marriot (3.5* hotel) for $55 for those same dates. I put in a bid for a 3* hotel at $60 but was rejected and got a counter offer of $77 instead. How much higher do you think I should go on my next bid? The lowest 3* hotel I can find on priceline for those dates are $118. I don't think I would want to go higher than $65 for a 3* hotel.Thanks.
thereuare Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Are you using your ONE re-bid zone that you have when bidding 3* in Los Angeles?HOTWIRE has a 3* for $62/nite which matches previous reports for the Wilshire Grand, although that star rating does seem a little low for this property. This would be my best guess.. the Wilshire Grand would be my best guess but no guarantees that whatever hotel it is would be 3* rated on PRICELINE... would you want to cap your bidding at $62 based upon this HOTWIRE offer? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 You have two threads going for similar dates in Downtown LA, jtam1234: one thread for 9/9-9/12 and another for 9/14-9/15.Are you bidding for both sets of dates or have your trip dates changed?
jtam1234 Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 i am bidding for both set of dates but I'm not so sure anymore because I am bidding for 1 room for 3 adults. I am afraid that after I get the hotel, they will only give me a room with 1 king bed.
thereuare Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 i am bidding for both set of dates...Is this one stay or two stays... if you're successful for one set of dates are you done, or do you then also still need the other set of dates? How much higher do you think I should go on my next bid?If you want to take a chance on getting two beds then I'll suggest bidding $65 for a 3.5*. Then $65 for a 3*.HOTWIRE's only Downtown option with two beds guaranteed is a 3.5* for $113. The 3.5* Marriott charges the same rate for one bed or two beds so I think you'll be okay if you win that hotel. But the two beds aren't guaranteed.
jtam1234 Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Thanks for your help. I actually booked through Expedia because I read somewhere that priceline only guarantee rooms for 2 adults.
