Colfax Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 This is the former Four Points downgraded from 3* to 2.5*. During the brand transition the hotel was briefly known as the Gateway Hotel.Ramada Plaza Minneapolis1330 Industrial BlvdMinneapolis, MN 55413I won this hotel by mistake. I was trying to win the Towneplace Suites in the Downtown Minneapolis zone. Priceline underrates the Towneplace Suites as 2* unfortunately. $38 for 2* Downtown was rejected with a $45 counteroffer. There are no rebid zones for 2*. I was impatient and rather than waiting 24 hours to bid again I took a gamble and added University-Metrodome zone at $39, which I thought was too low to win that zone. Wrong! I got upgraded to a 2.5* in University-Metrodome.It worked out okay. It's not far from Downtown. Eight story hotel, still with the Four Points furnishings. The desk clerk told me this hotel started out as a Hilton in the 1970's. $39 was my first bid in the zone so maybe it was available for less. $95 at Ramada's website.Bids placed through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.

Colfax Posted July 31, 2009 Author Report Posted July 31, 2009 If I'd taken the $45 counteroffer I probably would have got an upgrade to a 4* in Downtown Minneapolis anyhow; not the Towneplace I was after.I shouldn't have said I made a mistake because I knew what I was doing and what the risk was. More like I gambled and lost. The Ramada Plaza wasn't bad, especially for $39. It was just a surprise.
