gooddeals Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Hi,Can anyone suggest a good price for a 4* in London for 11/23-11/25? Priceline rejected the following bids:first bid: $75; 4*; mayfair - sohosecond bid: $78; 4*; mayfair-soho, south bank (no 4*)third bid: $85; 4*; mayfair-soho, south bank, bloomsburyThanks!
WillTravel Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 If you're willing to take the Kensington zone, you could perhaps succeed at that price. If you want Mayfair, I'd suggest a bid of over $100 to start. If you want Bloomsbury, I'm a little less sure, but I think likely $90 or so. Remember the dollar is weaker against the pound so the deals aren't going to be as good as they have been in the past. If you're willing to take Kensington, I'd start with $75.

gooddeals Posted November 3, 2004 Author Report Posted November 3, 2004 Thanks for the replies. I haven't been to London before, but I want to stay in a convenient area (walking distance to some attractions, close to tube, etc) and I read positive reviews of the mayfair and bloomsbury areas. I'm open to other suggestions, but I'll probably try those again with higher bids.
nightmusic Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 London, last year on PL we bid US99.00/night for kensington area, got a 4 star hotel on first bid try.Hope this helps. Wasn't the best and largest room, but the price was amazing considering it was London/Kensington.
WillTravel Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 I'm probably repeating myself from another post, but if money were no object and I were landing at Heathrow, Mayfair would be my first choice, and Kensington my second, and Westminster my third. I'd ordinarily pick Bloomsbury after Mayfair, but some of the hotels in the so-called Bloomsbury zone are more in the Kings Cross area.
gooddeals Posted November 10, 2004 Author Report Posted November 10, 2004 Thanks again for all of the suggestions. I finally won two nights in the Millennium Gloucester London (4* in Kensington area) for $90/night. Priceline counterbid $96 after my first bid of $80 and I won on the second try with $90.
