Hotwire Hotel: 3* Minneapolis (Bloomington West) Park Plaza

Hello

When traveling with my family I always use hotwire due to the fact that you can choose how many people to a room but this past weekend we stayed at the Park Plaza, Bloomington West, and I was told that you get what you get. We ended up having to pay $10.00 extra per night for a cot even after stating that there were 2 adults and 2 children in the hotwire search. My question is this....why does hotwire have the option of choosing how many people to a room when a hotel will not honor that? It is almost like a false security.

We have stayed at the Park Plaza before and never been charged for a cot using hotwire/priceline but the front desk staff sure let you know that you may have a substandard room or a room of which you did not choose. I wonder if this is a new thing for all people using hotwire/priceline.

Thanks

Robin

While we welcome both positive and negative experiences, please keep in mind that the spirit of this message board is helping users.

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

Thanks! :)

:) I am a bit taken back with your reply. I didn't think I was being "out of order" posting my experience. I do not wish to make a complaint about hotwire/priceline, I was just asking a question with regards to occupancy of 2 or more people to a room. I thought it was a valid question since when using hotwire you have the choice of 2 or more people. If I knew it wasn't going to make a difference when requesting 4 to a room then I would probably use priceline since I think their prices are a little cheaper.

I was so puzzled by your reply, I searched back my previous posts and I feel I have contributed valid information to help others when using these siites. I can not see a posting where I didn't reply to a previous post but I am sure there is one out there. It is difficult to reply sometimes due to the fact that you don't get an email notifying you that someone has posted to your post. It was just by chance that I saw your reply to my post. I did get a notification once when someone directly asked me about a specific hotel experience (which by the way was wonderful). I was more than happy to reply to this gentlemen.

This is a great site, full of tons of information for which travellers like myself are gratetful. Did I post this to the wrong area of this board if so I apologize? :)

Apparently you had a recent HOTWIRE purchase (and stay) at the Park Plaza Bloomington, but none of the other users on the board will benefit from the details of this purchase as you didn't post your win to the board.

I don't think i ever received a reply to the previous message i had sent to your INBOX.

I just booked a HOTWIRE room at Hyatt Bonaventure in Weston FL. I noted 2 adults 2 children and was booked into a 1 king bed room. I called the hotel. They "noted" a request for 2 queens but suggested I call Hotwire. I called Hotwire and, after some mild, polite prodding, the CS rep called the hotel and asked them to change the reservation to a 2 queens room. She did, the hotel agreed, and I've got the room I wanted at a lowish price.

The CS rep first gave me the "we book the room based on your profile" which of course is a bit silly since it clearly said we had 4 people sharing the room. A king room was inappropriate from the get go. Hotwire doesn't allow you to choose. My faith was restored in Hotwire when they agreed to call the hotel for me.

I of course used the HOTWIRE link on betterbidding.com to place my order.

Thanks,

M

Robin,

Thanks for posting the dates and price of your Hotwire Park Plaza win. One of the mods might move this thread to the Hotwire-Minnesota section. (If you can add the Hotwire amenities associated with the Park Plaza that will help too.)

If you purchased a room for 2 adults/2 children then the Park Plaza should have given you a room that accomodates 2 + 2, with no extra cot charge. When they tried to charge you extra you should have called Hotwire's Customer Service department right there from the hotel lobby at checkin. I expect Hotwire would have contacted Park Plaza on your behalf and tried to secure a room that sleeps four like you purchased. Hotwire's rules allow the hotel to use a cot or rollaway to satisfy the bedding requirement, but they can't charge you extra for the cot IF you paid for 2/2.

Although your stay is past it's not too late to request a refund of that $10 cot charge from Hotwire now.

From Hotwire's Help Section:

How many beds are in the hotel room?

All rooms booked on Hotwire will accommodate the appropriate number of guests in each room, based on the total number of guests you provided and the number of rooms you requested. While we cannot guarantee the number of beds in a property room, some properties may offer pull-out couches or roll-away beds. If you have specific needs, please contact the property directly. Our partners will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Hello Colfax

Thank you very much for your answer, it is much appreciated. Yes, I will definitely post the amenities. I am somewhat of a newbie here and am learning as I go. This is a great forum although not the friendliest I have used. You have restored my confidence :) as I vowed today that I would no longer make posts here but would use the forum to gather information when needed, so THANK YOU.

I called hotwire today, and talked to a very polite gentleman at customer service. I was pleasantly surprised at the wait time (less than a minute). The issue hasn't quite been resolved but he did assure me that yes, I should have gotten a room that accommodated 4 people. He stated that someone from hotwire will be contacting me (???) He asked if I had my receipt, which of course I do. We will see what happens.

Park Plaza, Bloomington West
