After watching prices on Hotwire increase significantly over the past month, I decided to begin bidding on Priceline about a week ago. I hear NYC is quite busy the first 2-3 weeks of December, so I am happy to have all of my reservations nailed down now. I know I probably could have bid closer to my arrival and possibly gotten a better price, but for such a busy tourist time of year, I felt that the peace of mind would be worth an extra buck or two.

In my opinion, at times of heavy demand, it is best to reserve early than late.

Last year we saw demand get tighter and tighter as we approached the holidays. Not sure how much that applied to the airport area, but definately the case for Manhattan.
