Aprilmay Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 After watching prices on Hotwire increase significantly over the past month, I decided to begin bidding on Priceline about a week ago. I hear NYC is quite busy the first 2-3 weeks of December, so I am happy to have all of my reservations nailed down now. I know I probably could have bid closer to my arrival and possibly gotten a better price, but for such a busy tourist time of year, I felt that the peace of mind would be worth an extra buck or two.Specifics................Your Offer Price: $75.00Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 1Subtotal: $75.00Taxes & Service Fees: $18.33Total Charges: $93.33The lowest price on the hotel's own website is $112/nt, so I am pleased with this price. Thanks for a great site and lots of useful info!
thereuare Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 In my opinion, at times of heavy demand, it is best to reserve early than late.Last year we saw demand get tighter and tighter as we approached the holidays. Not sure how much that applied to the airport area, but definately the case for Manhattan. Was this your first bid or were lower bids rejected? Thanks for posting and enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Aprilmay Posted November 1, 2004 Author Report Posted November 1, 2004 I bid twice before up to $70 (using all free rebids), and was denied each time. This time, I bid.................$65.........denied.$75 (w/free rebid)..............accepted.Thanks so much!April
