Sara Sue Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 We are traveling to the X-Games in Los Angeles. Ideally arriving in Los Angeles on 7/30th. We need fairly easy access to the Staples Center and Home Depot Center. Looking to get a room around $60 an night. Would love some assistance. On the 2nd, we are going to make our way to the Disneyland area and would love a strategy to score a great deal. We will be checking out on the 5th. Overall, looking for the best deal. Willing to bid on 3.5 to 4 star hotels. Thanks for the help!

Sara Sue Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Dpne. Sorry I didn't update my previous posts as I was not successful. Will do so in the future either way.Thanks.
Sara Sue Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 I'm wondering if the 4* Beverly Hills- West Hollywood is Le Parc Suites. Not sure if that is a hotel that comes up on Hotwire much or not. I have stayed there in the past I love it! What do you think? I looked it up on the hotel list, but had fewer amenities listed than the current list on Hotwire. Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 A property with these ameniteis has not yet been reported to the board, but it's possible that this is a new amenity combination for the Le Parc Suites... the hotel does have the ameniteis above and while the TA info is not a perfect match, it is close enough that any diference could be attributable to recent reviews at TA since the last time HOTWIRE updated the info... but can't be certain. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Sara Sue Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 Decided to try for a 4* Downtown LA for part of our stay, 7/30-8/1 with the option of adding through 8/2.Started bidding at $45 DowntownAdded Santa Monica/Marina Del Rey rebid $51Added Redondo/Manhattan rebid $58All denied. Started getting a little confused on my strategy. Could you help?I'm wondering if I would have better luck aiming for a 3.5 Star in Redondo/Manhattan area. Thanks.
thereuare Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 With less than a week before your stay i think you need to be a bit more realistic in your bidding. If you enter "Los Angeles Downtown" (without the quotes) in the QUICK SEARCH box in the blue banner at the top of the board, do you see any 4* hotels in the Los Angeles Downtown zone which have been wo for $58 or less?It also doesn't appear you have used your re-bdi zones, are you familiar with re-bidding and know how to determine your re-bid zones? (see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained for more info and ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before using them)Let us know how youd' like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 The 3.5* Marriott in Downtown LA is only $109 for your dates. That location would put you much closer to Staples Center than the other zones you're considering. If you want to try for the Marriott (another 3.5* could come up too but the Marriott's most likely) I suggest bidding $55 for a 3.5* in Downtown LA. If rejected add Culver City at $60; then add Lawndale at $65. Culver City and Lawndale are your two free rebid zones when bidding for a 3.5* in LA. If you don't understand free rebidding please ask. Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link.edit: I wrote this post before I'd seen thereuare's response in post #8.
Sara Sue Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 Bid 3.5 * Downtown at $55 and won the Marriott. Thanks for the help! This will be perfect.Now...we will need a room from 8/1 -8/3 in the Manhattan Beach/Redondo area. Can you provide me a bidding strategy? Then from 8/3 to 8/5 we will be heading to Disneyland and need a strategy for that timeline as well. Thanks Again.
AaronJB Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Congrats on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. Looks like a fantastic price for this Marriott property! :)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start future purchases.
