Hi guys,

Thanks for all the great info on both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.

Heres my story: I will be in the US as an exchange student from australia. I will be studying at Penn State University. Obviously I will try to make the most of my time there.

I was wondering since State College Airport is moer remote than a big city airport, would it be easier to bid lower prices for flights as the flights are less likely to be full? I may be naive as I'm not particularly familiar with this.

Thanks in advance!

Exchange, welcome to BetterBidding and the United States!

Typically, pricing works opposite to your expectations. There is often less competition at remote airports. Usually the airlines will fly smaller planes as well, to minimize empty seats.

If you have flexibility, though, you may be able to find good deals. Flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays tend to be cheaper - especially Tuesdays.

It's about a three hour drive to the Pittsburgh Airport. Depending on the prices, that might be worth it for you. Southwest flies from Pittsburgh. It's also about 2 hours to Harrisburg - possibly also less expensive.
